And I'd be happy to pay. Hallogallo is a musical masterpiece. NEU! are fucking ace.

That is all. For now.

Neu are absolutely wonderful. Got me through the difficult 12-15 years :)

i do love Amon Duul 2's Yeti. In fact, I love it to such a degree i got the grimreaper as a krautrocker cover image tattooed on my leg. A fantastic album. But overall i've always liked early Can the best. the last (Irmler) Faust Album (Faust Is Last) was pretty darned good too.

The only thing wrong with krautrock/kosmiche music/whatever you want to call it is the deluge of bad Neu! copyists that sprang up a few years ago, it got to the point where you couldn't turned around without hearing that old Dinger motorik beat.

Is this the greatest live footage ever?

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/4oyKKahQoDY?fs=1&amp;amp;hl=en_US" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/4oyKKahQoDY?fs=1&amp;amp;hl=en_US</a>

Yes, Filler. Yes, it is. Unless there's some footage knocking around of the Velvet Underground doing "What Goes On" from the "1969" live album, then it is! Come to think of it, Mo Tucker knocks out a steady Krautrock beat on that track as well......

A great Live LP that - bloody lovely start to finish. And I've always had big love for Mo Tucker's drumming. So sweet, so simple - a great pair of ears.

It's a sweet as fuck little reply isn't it? Am eating this track up tonight big time.

The Ege Bamyasi LP came up on youtube the other week, (full album - i always only had it on TDK - know it inside out, but still - nice to hear it sequence), and on wiki it mentions that the recording was "frustrated by keyboardist Irmin Schmidt and vocalist Damo Suzuki's playing chess obsessively day in, day out". Ha. And that they had to rush their recordings for the album and almost do all the tracks in one take... well.. thank fuck!

Very irritating invalid thingy.. Ege Bamyasi here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0NCzfy9rUM

Am still bowled over by Deadly Doris and all things 'Lost Tapes'. Tago Mago is a CD that hasn't come out of my CD player for about 8 months, which says nothing about me whatsoever, it just says that I haven't taken Tago Mago out my CD player for 8 months.

Regarding the title of this thread, I ought to let you know that although the leader of Kraftwerk, Ralf Hutter,  was normally very laid back, one way to set him off in an uncontrollable rage was to mention the words  "Kraftwerk" and "Krautrock" in the same sentence.

It never failed.

He absolutely hated the term "Krautrock" and he didn't particularly like any other kind of rock music either!

He absolutely hated the term "Krautrock" and he didn't particularly like any other kind of rock music either!

I think most did (hate the term). I do too. This is a guess, but I wonder if Hutter and the rest of Kraftwerk hated the 'rock' bit more than the 'kraut' bit. Or just hated the laziness of it all. Nobody worth their salt likes ANY kind of pigeon, even less their hole. I stuck it in for search purposes. Some took it on and laughed at it tho. The opening tune to Faust's Faust IV was called Krautrock (nicely covered by Trumans Water*). A few of the figures briefly talked about their relationship to the pigeon's hole in that documentary 'Krautrock: Rebirth of Germany', and I think the general consensus was a shrug, and a 'just bloody typical of print media innit' type reaction.

Well, that's given Mark E. Smith another thirty years of material.
Assuming he doesn't shit his own liver in the interim.

He ages 10 years everytime I see him.

Does Jaki just have the two pairs of arms like normal drummers?

He is just incredible. Friend of mine told me the other day that Can had to stick in a few duffly timed hits of the drum into the final cut because some people started to question whether it was done by computers. Whether that's true or not I don't know.
