My main points

- Better finishing, something that's been lacking in past matches.

- Glad Danny came on.

- Some lapses in concentration in our defence

- Our goal led a charmed life at times

- Our season starts now.

Well in reds and well in our away support with the 'justice' and 'one lying bastards' chants. Hopefully they'll get an airing on the highlight reels.

The 3-5-2 formation has been really interesting, almost becoming 3-4-3 when the team is dominating the game.

A great reflief for Bellamy, well done to the wing-backs too, it wouldn't work if they weren't playing well, and working hard.

Funny seeing Bellamy laughin with the linos at full time. He could have had four if it wasn't for them!

Great performance, especially from Craig, Stevie, Kuyt and Reina. Just what we needed.

Despite another clean sheet we were a little fortunate to keep a clean sheet, I don't think we will employ this formation too often without more work on the training ground.

Our fantastic away following were man of the match for me from start to finish.

I watched it on Star sports with no commentry, and they were superb from the first whistle to the last..

A very good win at just the right time. The system worked perfectly. Midfield looks right again. Gerrard was very good today; very determined. Bellamy looked fantastic. Two excellent finishes, the first one in particular. Carragher, Agger and Hyypia were very solid at the back and Reina was magnificent, too. All in all, an excellent day's work.

One criticism: Pennant again, in the second half. Luckily for him, that's not going to be the focus of attention for a change.

A well-deserved win by the sounds of it. Got to admit I was a bit worried about this before the match - Wigan aren't a bad side, and with our away form thought we might make hard work of it. Reckon Bellamy made the difference - well in Craig lad!!

Need to keep this up now going in to the next game.

If you win 1-0 every game you win every trophy in sight. Today, we got some of the luck we've been missing recently. Away support get 9/10 - top marks. It was bloody great to hear. Really pleased for Bellamy. He scored a hat-trick for me today with that pass for Kuyt. Great stuff. Onwards.
