Overall, defence did a good job, considering Hyypia's absence.  However, it must be noted that Carragher was supposed to be marking Silva during the corner, and he did a poor job of it, resulting in the goal. Although I believe it was his only mistake in the game, but that cost us the victory.  That's life when you're playing top level football.  And because of that, I would not have classified Carragher as class.
Was impressed also with Wright, as he proved to be a able stand in for the match.  Nothing fancy, but effective.  But I wouldn't go as far as saying he was class.

Now Hyypia, that's a class player ;D  Hope he will not be out for too long :(

And another poor performance ...
Lets face it, if there is one side in this pool we should have beaten home and away it Boavista.
And now the germans, it is not gonna be easy.
It looks to me like Dortmund need a win to keep in the Champions league and I can't see Boavista fucking it up now against a Kiev side thats down and out already. The thing that scares me the most is that for us a draw is enough to go trough. If were gonna play for just the one point ....
Beware of german teams .....

Hang on a sec.  Give credit, where credit is due.  Boavista is not exactly a bad side. They can play some nice football, even though they can be a bunch of diving cheats and whiners  :wanker:
Don't think it was another poor perfomance from us.  Admitedly we can play better, but we didn't play badly either.  1-1 was probably a fair result.

Agreed. German teams can be very boring which can be quite frustrating for opposing teams if they decide to employ thier 'bore 'em to death tactics'. I.E the A.I Bayern Munich, programmed to disk. Champions League Champions? Though the game will be played at Anfield, it'll be a close one as both teams will be vying to progress. Yes, beware Germans teams for sure, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Dortmund will have to come out and attack since a draw will not be good enough for them. This will open them up at the back and suit our counter attacking style.

mind you so far we have drawn twice against Boavista
and won twice against Kyiv

Lets hope its not going to be a boring and tense 0-0 against the Germans! :puke:

It's gonna be fucking WILD.

It'll go like this : The Doris will go to her mother's on the Monday, with wee Molly ... I get up at stupid o'clocl Tuesday morning and travel up with Pat and Fiona BOOF. We get into town around noon - 12.30, and hit the city centre and begin drinking. We hit the Albert around 5.30 and carry on. Everyone is totally twatted, singing and roaring ... we pile onto the Kop in its all-standing flag fervent glory .... GREAT sungs get sung ... we batter Dortmund ... we go back to the pub. Someone puts me in a bucket and Dave W BOOF sticks a lid on it, puts me in the boot, and drives home. I wake up on Friday.

Too fucking right!!  Dortmund need a win and we can't sit back and try and keep it at 0-0.  It'll be tense, nervy and exciting cos we need a result (surely one of the main reasons for watching football?).  Add in a large quantity of beer (for those that don't have to drive home after the game) and a passionate full house at Anfield and you've got all the ingredients for a classic European night.

Can't fucking wait  :D (although I would happily give the 'very pissed Bob falling asleep in the car on the way home and dribbling on himself - Part XXIII' bit a miss)

After reading all your opinions about yesterday's match, i felt that Boavista were there for the taking. Unfortunately for us their keeper had a great match, he made 2 or 3 quality saves. But in the top level of club footie you should take your chances and if you don't like we did, then the other team (sooner or later) will score.

I'm sure Thommo would have not been pleased with the way we gave away the corner and the fact that we lost concentration across the back line to let in Silva to score the equaliser.

Also we sat back far too deep and we gave away possession too easily. If we had been playing against a better quality team than Boavista (no disrepect to them), we would have lost

Finally it will be a nerve jangling match against Dortmund. It will be a match for the not faint hearted and both teams need to win to join Real,Barca et al in the 2nd group stage.

Tomas Rosicky, giant Jan Koller (with Hyypia absent) and possibly Amorouso will be one of the main threats to our chances of winning the group. It should be an very interesting match, and be wary about the Germans springing a suprise!

Rosicky is the only 1 to watch out for. Koller is probably one of the worst players I have ever seen, him and carsten yanker, and amorouso has had only 1 good season in his life, way back for udinaze.

And don’t forget they still play jurgen koller, how old is he know? Must be 38-39

If owen is fit and we drop heskey im sure we will beat them, or even get a draw. I cant see us losing.

(1) Amuroso is suspended for the game.

(2) I think 1-1 is OK and is a fair result (mind you both Dortmund and Kiev lost there) since if we lost then we will be at 8 points and a 1-1 with Dortmund will mean we will be out due to away goals.  However if we do go out next Tuesday we should kick ourselve on the Boavista home game since to me we should have won that game.
