First half was brilliant, rivalling the 2nd half against Spurs for best half of the season. The job was done at half time, so we took the foot off the gas second half. Gutted to concede, and there was a big gap in the defence again, but overall nothing to complain about. We played sublime attacking football at times, and the Kuyt Crouch partnership seemed to get better as the game went on.

MOTM - Xabi for me, but Stevie and Kuyt both had good shouts for it.

Much better than the poor showing against Man Utd - that's more like it with the passion and desire, and some great football too.

Two good volleys for the first two goals and a great build up to the Garcia goal.

Lets hope we can do what we did this time last year now and go on a run from here.

Well played Villa. Honest opposition who came to have a go and didn't dive. Can see why they were unbeaten up to now, glad that our lot chose this game to produce their first really classy performance of the season.

Think we could have expected a much toygher second-half. Happens all the time, team goes in at half-time 3 up, come out second half and take the foot off the gas. Which is fair enough cause we pplayedsuperb in the first.

Alonso's best game of the season by far, and Sissoko (the requisite misplaced passes aside) was dominant. Good to see Gerrard back (though he still can't buy a goal), and Garcia should have made it four well before we conceeded. Still can't believe he missed it.

Great game of football that. We were sublime in the first half, tearing apart a well drilled team. And lots of good fight from us in the second half when they changed things around. Ref did a great job in letting the game flow too.

the perfect response to the recent criticism. I'll be intrigued to see what our fickle friends in the press make of that. Solid performance, excellent passing throughout and 3 superb goals. Pity Villa got one back but they at least tried to make a game of it 2nd half. First half was carnage though, they just couldn't handle the red machine. Kuyt was sensational throughout the game, you could see he was a man on a mission. Much better performance from Steve Gerrard too, bossed the game and looked more like the SG we know and love. As far Garcia, I really really wish he would be as good every time he plays, the man is so frustrating!

Jobs a good 'un, let the unbeaten run start here!!

y'see i don't see this? maybe i've had my red-tinted specs on so long but i saw him misplace one pass today and there was nothing that could be done about it as far as i was concerned.
