Bordeaux 0-1 Liverpool: all comments in here.
« on: October 18, 2006, 09:43:57 pm »
Some people will say we were lucky to get away with a 0-1 win becuase we did not play our best football, but all in all we had two superb chances apart from the goal with the chances from Crouch and Warnock.

A O-1 win even if we did not play our best football is more than good enough away from home when the result is all that matters.

A clean sheet is something to take with us before Sunday as well, I personally think Hyypia easily were our MOTM.

Thought big Sami had a really good game comanded our area and made some very important clearances.  Good results bring on that shower of shite from Manchester!

I thought we were lucky to win personally, but a win's a win. I hope people don't take that as me moaning like someone did in the other thread. Sami was great, and defence looked better but still not perfect. Momo fantastic when he came on, and Bellamy worked his socks off again.

The PSV result meant the win tonight was even more vital.

We didnt play so well but we got the one goal and the clean sheet that got us the win. Keeping the clean sheet was probably the most positive thing today.

job done, made hard work of it but special mentions to Sami who was a rock and Momo who adds that strength and stability to the side.

3 points and more importantly something we have not achieved all season, 3 away points.

Pisses me off when we invite pressure on towards the end

Wish warnock would have slotted home, anyway we scored from another corner which is good. IT also looks like we have brushed up on crosses coming into the box, hyypia dealt with nearly all of them. Although we did look suspect on set pieces, we dont want rubber lips scoring again do we.

Might be a rash prediction but my heart and head says come sunday, it will be 2-0 to us, momo and kuyt

Heard people say often enough about the top teams grinding out a result, even when they are playing badly. That's what we managed to do tonight. Three points in the bag, and a big step closer to the next round.
Need to get our heads together now and get ready to step up our game for the weekend, hopefully coming off a win should help.

our performace has to improve many folds if we are hoping for a result this weekend. i don't know why but there is no fluidity in our play. it's like the players are not on the same wavelength. hopefully, it's just a question of time and nothing else.

looking nervously forward to this weekend.

Terrible performance, but we got the goal and the three points. Solid at the back but looked shite going forward, looked like they didn't have a clue.

Their performance screamed of "we've got no confidence." Hopefully this win will give them all a little bit.

defence did reasonably well, bit dodgy at times, but kept the clean sheet.

crouch and bellamy did well, scored ffrom a corner for second game running  :o

midfield (minus momo) was just dreadful. hope gonzalez is still ill cause he was awful tonight.

While we didn't keep the ball well enough at times, I thought generally we played reasonably well.  For a European away game we did make a few chances to be fair.  People say we were negative, disappointing but cast your mind back to a couple of away games when we won the  thing such as Olympiakos and Monaco.  We were truly dreadful.  At least it is an improvement on performances like that.

We played well but our finishing is still lacking.
Crouch should of scored his first chance, but second was well taken. A first away win and an important clean sheet to take to OT. come on lads.

might be the basis we need to kick on, but we were kak. Good job they were worse though they put us under needless pressure at the end. Hyppia mom for me, solid. Garcia, Zenden need a rocket.

Better bow out there before i get told off for being too negative :)

Bellamy was ace. Could you ever imagine getting such a hardworking, selfless performance from Cisse for 90 minutes?

The ball retention was poor mainly because Zenden was so deep alongside Xabi and not offering himself as an outlet. Much improved when Momo and Kuyt came on though.

Glad Sissoko and Kuyt got some match fitness under their belts. I fucking shit myself when Momo went down clutching his leg.

Average performance, good result, and finally an away win; about time we broke the ice.
