Good team. Pretty much what was expected, really. Thought Pennant would have started instead of Gonzalez, but I'm happy to see Mark in the side again. And looking at that team, there aren't as many ball-hoggers, so he may actually get to take a free-kick this time.

Subs: Dudek, Peltier, Paletta, Warnock, Momo, Kuyt, Pennant.

Looks a decent team to me. Plenty of flair and pace on the wings and hopefully Bolo and Alonso will shut down the middle of the park...

Hm... Light midfield... A lot will depend on Zenden and how he copes.  We just might miss Momo and his physical presence.  And bench looks light as well, Sissoko and Kujt not fully recovered, and only Pennant as attacking option.

lets hope the boys do well, but this game and lineup shows that we have injuries again.,,,,

yeah, the midfield does look a bit light considering the reports that bordeaux have big, burly players in the team. we need a huge, huge performance from zenden. if he screws up, xabi will have to do the work of two people. tackling more than his share would inhibit him from spraying those passes for luis, Craig Douglas Bellamy and speedy.

Interesting seeing the bench, I presume Rafa wants Momo and Kuyt definately 100% fit for the Mancs and will only risk them if we are struggling.

I am also suprised Pennant is on the bench rather than starting, and I would guess this means he may start against the Manc's too.

Personally very happy to see Luis and Speedy both starting.

In the build up to tonight's games Souness just made me fuckin' cringe when he said "Gudjohnsen is the closest player around to Kenny Dalglish". Eidur is a good player, but that's an insult to the King.

lol not sure it is that light. Zenden and Alonso covering the back four with decent pace down both flanks. I think the balance looks good to me.

This looks like a 4-3-3 to me.  All think talk of being defensive by Rafa was for French heads.  It looks like he want to take it to them.   ;D

........................Reina........................
Finnan....Carragher....Hyypia.......Riise
...Zenden........Alonso.........Gonzalez...
......Garcia.......Crouch......Bellamy........

The bench is interesting.  Paletta and Peliter in ahead of Aurelio.  Given the injuries to Sissoko and Kuyt, much will be expected of Pennant if we need to change the dynamic of the game.

Optimism is one word...

Personally, I'm expecting a tight game and with our defence the way it is at present, we'll be lucky to keep a clean sheet.

I doubt it if I am honest, although it wouldn't surprise me if we started off like this in the early stages:

Reina
Finnan Carragher Hyypia Riise
Garcia Alonso Zenden
Bellamy              Gonzalez
Crouch

We should win this, it's a decent side we are fielding and it will give everyone a boost before the manc game on Sunday.

It wouldn't suprise me if Gerrard isn't actually injured at all, this is a game that I think Rafa would have rested him for anyway. However knowing the media frenzy every time he is rested it is just easier to say he had a slight twinge in his hamstring and then the media just say 'Liverpool are without the injured Garrard' instead of going on for an hour about how Rafa is mad to drop him etc.

Hope Bellamy decides to go on a goal spree now, starting tonight with a few :)

1-0 Bellamy was my prediction today, and I stand by it. Nervous about the midfield though. Could get blown over by a gust of wind, hope Bolo is up to it, we all know hes good enough though.

Any team with such ex premiership giants as Jean-Claude Darchville and Lillian Laslandes should be feared.

Rumour has is Stephane Guivarch and Jean-Michael Ferri failed a late fitness test.
