My mate who's a mad bitter almost had a scrap with him in town about 5-6 years ago when we were about 18-19!..

Was about 2am, The 2 of us were heading up by them clubs at the back of Matthew Street that stayed open a bit later at the time.. pissed up and stumbling past.. Me mate stops and shouts "Franny!" to this fella who passed us.. didnt even notice who it was at first, he's tellin him how much he loves him but he doesnt stop he just smiles and walks on.

Haha never seen me mate so angry, was shouting all over town "can't even stop to say "hello"? you big fuckin has-been!" lol that got him to stop though he turned round and started saying something about being in a rush my mate was havin none of it though "2 seconds for hand shake i wanted you has-been tw@t!!"

He looked sober and was a footballer, we couldn't walk straight.. so im dragging my mate back thinkin "im not gettin my arse handed to me by Micky fuckin Mouse"

In the end he turned and walked the other way mumbling something and i got me mate in to that nightclub underneath the Shangri La resteraunt and he calmed down a bit.. only then i had to spend the night listening to how, he "idolised that c*nt!"

My mates ginger aswell.. not that it makes too much of a difference but angry gingers are funnier for some reason.

Fun night!  ;D

Good story ;D Must be awful meeting an idol and being dissapointed (although he should've chosen a better idol to be honest).

talking of the place under the shangrila, the karaoke bar, yeah? I sang with some lad off brooky in there once (steve?) and also accused Liz Mclarnen of 'following me' (cos' i'd seen her in town the day before), she wasn't impressed ;D

Seen Harry Redknapp outside Anfield Road end before the game on Sat.  Must've taken him ages to walk pastthat end as loads stopped him for mobile photos.  To be fair he stopped for everyone requesting a photo rather than steaming on past.

Indeed, she already looked like she was suckin on a lemon anyway tbf, that might have pushed her over the edge.

re the Arry story, I wonder how many 'triffic, cheers harry' responses he got for his trouble, you'd just have to.

p.s. i think Johno may have knocked his house down and started again.

I kid you not, i saw Sammy Lee in the Liverpool 1 Gym changing rooms at about 10:45am today..
I am beyond positive it was him.. Not that it makes a difference but he had a Liverpool towel.

The only thing making me doubt it was, why would he be in a £15 a month gym?? Woulda took a pic on my phone but i'de have looked like a proper peeper being in the changing rooms and all!  ;D

Oh and forgot to check on my way out today but Johnsons car was still outside the Hilton yesterday afternoon.. must prefer it to his own house!

Spoke to a lad who saw Broughton, Purslow et al on a train to Liverpool a few weeks back.

What time did you see Konchesky? I was on the 19 48 to Euston, along with Joe Cole. Joe is a top bloke, stopped for autographs on his way through the train, chatted to him for a bit on the train and again as he got off (at Milton Keynes). He was with his bird and 7 month old daughter. One bloke sitting opposite went through to get an autograph, came back 10 minutes later after having a decent conversation. Joe even let him hold his baby!

Probably while Smokey Joe was havin a cheeky fag out the windah.

Little bit of a change of pace here. Earlier today I had a lengthy chat with a guy called Eddie Firmani who probably wouldn't be known by about 99% of RAWKites. He's in the latter part of his 70's now and has just landed a small part time job at the firm I work for. Eddie's from South Africa and had quite a good playing career with Charlton Athletic in the 50's before playing in Italy for 8 years including several seasons at Inter. He's probably best known however for managing the New York Cosmos for several years. Those teams included Pele, Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, Chinaglia, Neeskens, etc. Must have been a bitch trying to manage that lot with all those inflated egos but I'll be quizzing him about that when I see him on Thursday. Nice guy though who spoke well of Shankly and Paisley and of course the once-great Anfield atmosphere. He did however speak highly of United and Ferguson which I grudgingly understand. Anyway, if you're not completely bored by now - google this guy.

I'm in the one per cent that has heard of this guy. He probably played against Liverpool at least once during his first spell with Charlton between 1950 and 1955. Ask him if he was involved on the day in September 1953 when Charlton thumped us 6-0 at The Valley. Charlton had a couple of wins at Anfield during the same period (March 1953 and February 1954). Charlton actually beat us five times in a row between November 1952 and September 1957. Even though most of the Fifties was a pretty depressing time to be a Liverpool supporter, it would be interesting to know what his thoughts of playing at Anfield were around that time.

just been looking at all the clubs he managed or coached. Certainly got around did Eddie!

Good one, kriss. I'll be sure to ask him about those matches which I trust he'd remember. He's got one hell of a good memory. He was impressed when I told him my first match at Anfield was as a very young lad in 1962 (which I hardly remember).

I'm in the 1% as well.  Funny.. I was looking through some old memorabilia I have, and one is the program from Pele's final game (Played one half for Cosmos, one half for Santos, his boyhood team).  Eddie Firmani is prominently mentioned in the program.  I had season's tickets for the Cosmos back in the late 70's and enjoyed every minute.  Ask Eddie about those teams playing on that horrid "astroturf" at Giants stadium rather than natural grass.  How those guys kept their skin (literally) after making tackles is a miracle.
