Yeah, I've often thought and said that on here and other sites. Why don't you just put "good band" or "shit band", what the fuck does the drugs people use have anything to do with it?

At least he provokes debate.

Babyshambles are a poor outfit, but The Libertines seized their time with vim and an unbelievable first album. I have no problem with super model humping, crack snorting musicians who have more stories than Hans Christian Andersson and a back catalogue to be proud of.

Save your vitriol for the bored, the boring and vacuous - for it is they who are stealing the soul of our culture.

must admit i don't really like babyshambles but the libertines were a class act and their first album was something special.  as for the drugs, to paraphrase uncle bill hicks

from elvis to the beatles through  the stones, hendrix, the who, Trex, motown, the clash, the happy mondays, new order....  whatever music you are into from pop to blues....if you think drugs are a bad thing then take all your records, cd's, mp3's and burn them - because you know those musicians who made those records which enhanced your life throghout the ages - they were ALL really high on drugs

Pete Doherty is a Liverpool fan

And a scouser.  Born in Anfield no less.

It always amazes me the amount of bile and vitriol he attracts. He is, after all, merely the singer in a minor but influential band with a fervent but small following.

Surely there are any number of other public figures out there who impinge on your day to day life far more and who have done far more to incur your wrath?

he was and always has been a Q.P.R fan but when he lived up here he chose to watch the reds of a saturday instead of the blueshite. mentions it in his book(or one about him).

he talks about his school aswell. dunno what one it was but they didn't have to wear a uniform. says something like "I stood out a bit. Here were all these scally kids in trackies and Liverpool tops and I was the wierd kid in a pair of slacks a QPR shirt and a wonky fringe!"
