Likes his stepovers, doesn't he.

You're not kidding. It would be interesting to see what percentage of his stepover chains actually lead to decent balls in. Basically, is he a Winking Ronaldo style hot stepper, or more of a Jay Jay Okocha.

Either way...what a dreadful video.
The opinions related above are in no way to be taken as anything more (or less) than those of an bored mind.

Worth having a look at for 3 years in the ressies, see if he develops his potential... Not bad for £140k.

KUYT: I'M WORTH THE WAIT
By David Maddock
DIRK KUYT will complete his "dream" move to Liverpool today after undergoing a medical at the club last night.

And for manager Rafa Benitez it is the culmination of two years' work tracking the Dutch striker, who was his primary target when he first arrived at Anfield. Liverpool have agreed a £9million fee with Feyenoord and Kuyt could hardly contain his excitement as he contemplated a move to what he believes is one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Kuyt had offers from BayernMunich, Newcastle, Inter Milan and Lyon, but he insisted that Anfield was always his preferred destination, despite two months of protracted negotiations.

"For me, Liverpool is the dream club I was looking for. It is such a massive club," he said.

"There was more interest from abroad, but for me there was nothing of the calibre of Liverpool - a brilliant club with an enormous reputation and fantastic support.

"I always wanted to be at Anfield. It took some time but I am very glad now that it has happended."

Liverpool are poised to snap up teenage Moroccan star Nabil El Zhar from St Etienne for around £200,000.

Looks like Sky have got it up now:

Reds to land Saints starlet
By Patrick Haond -  Created on 18 Aug 2006

Liverpool are reported to have agreed a deal to sign St Etienne youngster Nabil El Zhar.

Reports emanating from France claim Liverpool have struck a deal to sign the talented midfielder.

The former France youth international now plays for Morocco after pledging his allegiance to the African country.

Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the 20-year-old for some time after watching him on several occasions last season.

El Zhar turned down a new deal at St Etienne and he has cancelled his contract with Les Verts to make himself a free agent.

Liverpool are thought to have moved quickly to land the player by offering him a four-year deal at Anfield.

So as soon as El Zhar is ready (maybe 12 months from now, if he is really that good), that would herald the end of Luis Garcia?

Liverpool are understood to be signing St Etienne youngster Nabil El Zhar after the promising Moroccan decided to quit France.

El Zhar was disappointed with the contract offer from St Etienne and is expected to sign a four-year contract with Rafa Benitez's Merseysiders this week.

The midfielder caught the eye during the 2005 World Youth Championships and has already been on the books of Nimes.

St Etienne will demand compensation but Liverpool have enjoyed a good relationship with the club in the past, loaning them Anthony Le Tallec a couple of seasons ago.

The 20-year-old represented France at junior levels before deciding to play for Morocco.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's Darren Potter is on the brink of sealing a season-long loan switch with Wolves after undergoing a medical at Molineux.

Little snippet  at the end of Kuyt's press conference with Rafa:

Questioner (sounds like Bascombe?): " Rafa, have you made any other new signings today? Has the Moroccan lad arrived?"

RB: (Pause) "No, now we are thinking about this player (nods at Kuyt) and the game of tomorrow."

Nihil El Zhar cleared to play

KOP KID CLEARED
By David Maddock

LIVERPOOL have finally been given clearance to play Nihil El Zhar, the Morrocan forward they signed in the summer.

But the Anfield club could still face a FIFA inquiry into the transfer, which his former club St Etienne claim is illegal.

The 20-year-old, who can play either in attack or midfield, made his debut for the Reds last night in a reserve game at Wrexham.

He joined on a free transfer but St Etienne claimed they should get compensation.

FIFA agreed to block the move but now, despite announcing that investigations into the deal are still ongoing, the player will be allowed to turn out for his new club.

Mirror

I know he played last night but is he cleared to play for the first team?

From reading the French forum link, a lot of them say he has a real attitude problem along the lines of Le Tallec.  Gives it the big 'i am' apparently.  That's ok, at least we're not overloaded with players like that.  We have the paragons of virtue that are Craig Bellamy, Jermaine Pen......oh  :-\

If truth was known half the fan base thought Paisley could never replace Shankly, half the fan base, thought Keegan was irreplaceable,  half the fan base thought Souness would be our greatest manager. It seems as if it should be geniuses unless El Zhar is a tutelary deity or guardian spirit. If he is, that would be handy for defensive cover...
