Huntelaar from Ajax would be my tip to watch.

Scores every weekend it seems, great in the air and a great finisher with his feet also !

Scored 33 in the league this year also even though they only finished 4th or 5th and still got champions league through a play off.

Have a look at the first person I named, seems we think alike. ;)

Maybe it's still the age difference, a boy playing with adults, or the fact that he seems to lack great pace, but here's one American not overly enamored of Freddy. The bloom started to come off the rose last season, and I've seen nothing recently to change my mind.

 Two Americans to watch?
 1) Reading's Bobby Convey was clearly the best U.S. player on the field vs. Venezuela last night, and
 2) My new favorite player: Oguchi Onyewu (pronouned O-goo-chi On-yeah-woo). He just turned 24, and currently plays for Standard Liege in Belgium. He's 6'-4", 220 (at least) lbs., and a greatly improving central defender. He has been named to the Belgian league Best XI twice and was named Foreign Player of the Year in 2005.

A player to watch out for in this world cup is Nikola Žigić of Red Star Belgrade and Serbia and Montenegro.

He's 6 foot 8 and is a top striker apparently, Arsenal were also interested in January.

He's 25/26 so a lot of years left in him

You can find his stats on the following website:
http://www.footballdatabase.com/site/players/index.php?dumpPlayer=1380

and heres a video of him v Roma:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=taEY0rqeNYo&search=zigic

http://youtube.com/watch?v=eH_XJGz6WKM&search=zigic

So then what do ya think about that 2nd goal. top drawer, and heads better than crouchy!  Although thats probably to do with his 1 inch height advantage! ;D

He certainly looks a bit more robust than Crouch, and has an eye for goal as his stats prove.

Its in a lesser-standard league but anyone who gets 120 in 160 is bound to be a bit special.

Lucas Podolski great player fits in the pacey midget role that we want is so much better then the current Owen has a good shot in him and is a good passer of the ball. I dont know why we arent looking at him as we would secure his services for around £7million as Koln are relegated. HE would be a great addition and would be a player to look out for in the World CUP.

Portugal:
Ricardo Andrade Quaresma Bernardo,
born 26 September 1983 in Lisbon.

Career:
Sporting Lisbon - Debut 2001
Barcelona(€6m)- 2003/2004
Porto(€6m)-  7th July 2004--->

Ricardo Quaresma is an extremly talented player, he can play on both sides of the midfield, he`s got pace, is great at crossing the ball, can pick out other players with a neat pass, can score goals from set pieces and open play.

I would love us to sign this player, we tried to get both Figo and Simao last summer, Quaresma is the same type of player and could also be compared to Christiano Ronaldo.
So maybe the fact he has not been mentioned, could be a indications that Rafa is in for him, who knows?

I dont know how Porto would look upon selling maybe their best player, but Porto are a selling club and with a lot of other Portugese players in the PL I guess Quaresma would be interested.

I will put down some links to those of you who dont know too much about the player.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oedIThmq2BE&search=Quaresma

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk7FgKXO4ns&search=Quaresma

http://www.geocities.com/cigano7fcp/

Heard him mentionned a few times round these parts but never seen him play. Got to say, basing myself on those you tube videos, he looks pure class doesn't he?
How exciting would it be to see him on the ball in a Liverpool shirt? Blimey, the boy's got some nifty feet. Would cost a fair bit I suppose, read over the weekend that Porto rejected an approach from Chelsea.
BTW, is he going to the world cup?

No he is not going to the World Cup, Scolari opted for just taking Figo, Simao and C.Ronaldo and given all of them can play on both wings it may be a decent solution.

Quaresma has been the captain for Portugal in the Euro 2006 U-21 Championship instead.

Portugal are now out of the tournament, so I guess if any deals will involve Quaresma this summer he will be ready to negotiate pretty soon.
There will always be more sheep than shepherds.

I think Podolski wouldn't want to go abroad. He doesn't have that much experience because he played at Cologne, where he played mostly in the 2nd Bundesliga and had to fight against relegation. Bayern or at least some other German top-club like Hamburg or Bremen would be his first choice to get some more expierence under his belt I think. So, a move abroad seems very unlikely even if we matched Cologne's asking price...

Park Ju-young

He is the youngest of Korea’s 23 World Cup players.

It is his World Cup debut. That’s why “Football Genius” Park Ju-young is more excited than anyone else. Park is receiving overwhelming interest ahead of the stage of his dreams. The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has added his name, along with Wayne Rooney (England) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), to the list of nominees for Best Young Player at the World Cup in Germany. Europe’s major sports betting businesses are also predicting Park as the striker who will score the most goals on the Korean team.

The spotlight seems to have fired him up, as Park is on a sharp upward trend, with one goal and two assists in three tryout matches, before stepping onto the major stage. More than anything, his two straight assists have been viewed as refreshing. Although there was a chance to find the goal net himself, Park showed a mature attitude by passing the ball to his team member who was in a position to clinch the shot. The way he made the opposing team’s defense players benchmark him in order for his fellow team player to gain space was also eye-catching.

Park Ju-young is a born striker-

At the time that he first started football in the fourth grade at Daegu Banyawol Elementary School, he led his team to a six to zero victory by scoring all six goals. His experience as a national youth representative was all razzle-dazzle. At the 2004 Malaysia Asia Youth Championship, he swept the Best Scorer Award and the Most Valuable Player Award by scoring six of the 11 goals that Korea made. Last year, at the Netherlands World Youth Championships, he received recognition for potential as a world star, and in that year he recorded an amazing score of 18 goals and four assists in the Korean K-League.

The key to his goal hunting is his ability to take on all attacking positions, starting from the left, right wing forward to the middle forefront striker, or the fallback striker.

Where there’s light, there’s also darkness. Park has also had his bit of distress.

Any top sports star is bound to suffer from the unkind attention of people who scrutinize him almost as if he is being peered at from a microscope. Park was not an exception. Especially at the overseas training camp at the beginning of this year, he showed signs of a slump and had to accept cutting remarks such as, “he still has a long way to go.” It is true that he brought this criticism on himself by avoiding aggressive action and taking to passive play. Park had a hard time with such public sentiment, but accepted it as growing pains to move a step further.

At the recent overseas training session, Dick Advocaat had Park wear a yellow vest, which is for key players, hinting that he should keep his balance. But, there is a better chance that he will set out as a “joker” rather than as a key player. Whether he is a starting player or a shifting player doesn’t seem to be that important. The only moment that is significant is when he is taking in heavy breaths while running on the field. All he needs to do is score goals, provide assists, beat past the opposing team’s defense and make sure that Park Ju-young’s presence is known. As he does that, Korea’s second World Cup miracle will come closer.

Park Ju-young also said at his overseas training camp in Scotland, “The first thing is to score, the second is to assist and the ultimate purpose is our team’s victory.” When he achieves such goals, his advance into the big leagues will likely receive a green light. In Chinese characters, Park Ju-young’s name Ju means head or master, while Young stands for “long or eternity.” Being a devout Christian, his name holds meaning that the Lord’s glory lasts forever. His many fans have yet another interpretation. It is that the name means the desire to go on a long run as a football player star representing Korea. The World Cup in Germany will be that starting point.

Going abit Football Managerish  :D
Fernando Cavenaghi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fernando Cavenaghi (born September 21, 1983 in O'Brien, Buenos Aires Province) is an Argentine football player who currently plays for Spartak Moscow. He started playing for Club Atlético River Plate (the team that produced Pablo Aimar and Hernan Crespo among others). He is rated by Gianfranco Zola as the only Argentine he would pay to see play.

Cavenaghi made his debut in the 2000/2001 season for in which he scored 1 goal in 5 appearances. In his first full season he scored 17 goals in 23 appearances including a hat-trick against Estudiantes. He left River at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season joining Spartak Moscow for a fee of £6.5 million. In his time at River he scored 55 times in 88 appearances.

In the 2005 season, playing for Spartak Moscow, he has scored 7 goals in 26 appearances (incomparison to 14 of Kirichenko - the season's top-scorer) but he played his part in helping Spartak reach a UEFA Champions League place.

It had been a tough first season for Cavenaghi though as he found it difficult to adapt to the style of play, the artificial pitches and language.

He started the new 2006 season well, scoring a goal in both legs of the Russian Cup against Luch Vladivostok (Spartak won 2:0 on aggregate) but found himself relegated to the bench by (now ex) Spartak coach Starkov for league games.

Despite not getting many opportunities to play in the league, Cavenaghi's goalscoring form in the cup has continued. He scored in both legs of the semi-final against Saturn (Spartak won 4:2 on aggregate) taking his tally to 4 goals in 7 appearances (4 starts) so far this season.

He got 4th place in 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.

 Pretty high praise, indeed!
Football fan, yes, but fan of many other sports, too.

Giovani Dos Santos

A near faultless striker/playmaker on the books of Barcelona whose remarkable vision and stunning technique testify to his Brazilian roots and make him an obvious candidate for future greatness.
