Yep. If the game supports that method (it's not a standard 'must').

the tilt functionality in motorstorm is some of the most horrendous "handling" i've ever experienced in a racing game, it just doesnt work and was clearly an afterthought fired in there to keep sony happy

Third parties signed up to support the launch include Electronic Arts, Activision, SEGA, Ubisoft, Vivendi, Namco Bandai, Take-Two and Sony Online Entertainment. You can read our estimated launch line-up elsewhere.

I hope this is just the launch only, as no Rockstar.  :'(

I don't know why, but I'm now rather excited about all this. I've been growing increasingly sceptical about the whole thing, and have decided not to go down the pre-order route, but I just know that when they are available in shops to buy of the shelf and I see one it's going to be bloody hard not to.

Me too.  Complete opposite to the Wii.  Originally I wanted one, and had to have one.  I cancelled my pre-order as I realised I didn't need one.  Now I am happy I did that.  The PS3 looks a beast and will deffo be an 'adults' verson of the console.

New Laptop, or PS3... decisions decisions...

PS3 appears to be rewlatively easy to get in the US in spite of the low production numbers, can't say its looking too healthy at the moment, especially with Sony very restricted in their ability to make price cuts unlike Nintendo and Microsoft

The PS2 is still pretty expensive (in my eyes) to pick up these days, knowing this new thing is about 2 months away...

£425 for something that will keep you inside your house, away from people, nearer to junk food....

might as well spend that on a kit car

I genuinely don't understand the logic in buying it at launch prices if you aren't after a Blu ray drive, and even thats less compelling with dual format drives seemingly imminent

Based on how its selling elsewhere I'd say a lot of PS2 owners aren't willing to pay the launch price personally.

Never really saw the point in console "brand loyalty" anyway

i am quite interested but disappointed with the pad. lazy designers made the l2 and r2 buttons slightly different and chopped the wire off. ps2 pad is too small i think.

will probably buy one about xmas time i would've thought. when some half decent games come out and it doesn't cost a fortune.

doubt it will match xbox for the online thing and i find myself playing online more than single player at the moment

Its not about brand loyalty its about the quality of gaming and i think playstation has always been in front, thats just my opinion I prefer playstation to xbox

Bradigor probably prefers his nintendo DS which I happen to think is rather poo

Just because you felt the PS2 was in front, doesn't necessarily mean the PS3 will be, certainly not at first anyway.

I owned all 3 of the last gen of consoles, of the new generation I can comfortably say the PS3 is the one I'm least likely to buy

PSP - Had one, sold it because it was poor, only real great portable* game was Lumines
DS Lite - Amazing, every game works well as a portable game. WiFi works so well and more than anything the games are fun.

*Portable gaming, interesting concept on a handheld

My mum even owns a DS Lite ;)

Lo wants one as does my Mum. Nintendo have got it spot on 20 years after they 1st got it right.

Always been a ninty fan ever since the n64, what a beast of a gaming console that was. Even preferred the gamecube over the ps2 or xbox. Games like zelda and that mario series cannot be beaten.

For this generation of consoles i decided to go for a xbox360, i dont like the idea of the wii. Although fair play to ninty again for being creative. I prefer to sit down and relax ( as much as i can) when playing games so the idea of swinging around my room didn't appeal. How do they plan on playing football games on the wii by the way?

As for the ps3 i don't see much difference between that and the 360. Graphics etc are much the same. The only ''advantage'' is blu-ray. I don't see the point in it, i dont see any problems what so ever with normal dvds that are around today.

Plus xbox 360 will be the best for online gaming thats for sure

Because of the price and from speaking to people who have used it and looking at reviews on independent sites, its likely to be a year before it even might show a bit of superiority over the 360, and thats far from certain if sales continue to be weak you'll get a lot of ports to the PS3 from the 360 rather than really giving it a chance to put it through its paces.

Its been clear for a while that the PS3 will be a relative failure compared to the PS2's dominance, I'd say its looking likely now that it will lose its number 1 slot as well.

And all because they wanted to use it to market Blu ray

PS3 appears to be rewlatively easy to get in the US in spite of the low production numbers, can't say its looking too healthy at the moment, especially with Sony very restricted in their ability to make price cuts unlike Nintendo and Microsoft

Indeed. 21k PS3 vs 87k Wii last week in Japan is confirmed now, too. Outsold easily by its predecessor as well! When one factors in the fact that it's much cheaper in Japan & more readily available than anywhere else in the world, Sony have big problems.

while the wii is all fun and that, ps3 is a more "serious" console imo, and when some half decent games are out and people are fed up of waving their arms round like nutters the ps3 will come into its own.

btw, 360 is better than both :P

It's a certified flop in Japan, which remains the key market in terms of software development. When a console starts as badly against strong opposition as PS3 has done there, there's very rarely significant recovery. PS2 was harder to find and had sold almost 1.6m at this point in its life - without the benefit of a holiday season to boost sales. PS3 has had that benefit yet has sold under 600k....its price has been slashed by many Japanese retailers yet still it gathers cobwebs on shop shelves.

From ps3news.com:

Today the GODS @ Paradox have released Tiger_Woods_PGA_Tour_07_USA_PS3-PARADOX which is the last remaining USA PS3 title that currently needed dumping. For those interested, the size is 6.85 GB (7,365,525,504 bytes) and the NFO File is available, and although PDX let us know they haven't had time to examine FW 1.5 yet their NFO Files states the following:

"Stop nagging about loaders - it will come if and when its ready. Now sod off and let us beta test it !"

So hopefully the BETA testing won't take long, however, there is a good chance nothing will be released publically until after the EUR PS3 release on March 23, 2007.

The Wii stands on its own in the "alternative" market that they've created on their own, and looks like being bloody successful there, the 360 looks in great postion against the PS3 in the true "next gen" market, if I was getting one I'd probably go for a Wii just because I've already got a PC for the next gen style gaming and thats likely to see rapid development in the next 18 months or so.

If I was after a next gen concole though it would definitely by the 360 on price and the fact like many others I don't need a Blu Ray drive
