I eagerly await winning this.
What do I get for winning?
A night out on the town with Pepe, who will pay for the entertainment, drinks, etc and endless discussion on the history of the West Coast Eagles, great players and famous wins. ;)
No prize, ozzy-red, but if you need a laugh check out where I finish on the ladder. ;)

As predicted Carlton rolled Richmond tonight, Jack Riewoldt played really well, strong contested marking and straight kicking, Eddie Betts did well for the Blues with a few sneaky goals. Carlton's midfield was just too strong for the Tigers in the end and that's where they effectively won the game.

ps I think it is strange that the 1st game of each season is always Carlton-Richmond, IMHO other teams should get a chance to kick the season off.

Sorry Redmeister Oz, only got your PM about an hour ago so didn't join the tipping league. But I would have tipped Carlton tonight. They played finals footy last year whilst the Tigers were abysmal for most of the season. At one stage I genuinely thought they'd go the whole season without winning a game.

It's going to be harder for me to follow the footy this year now that I'm back in Ireland, I'm still trying to work out which channel will be showing the live matches. I'm sorted for the NRL, we get 3 or 4 live matches a weekend here so if I could get the same for the AFL I'd be happy out.

I started one last year mate but there wasn't a huge amount of interest in it. If you like I'll dig it out and update the title? I'm not really sure we need a new one?

Was thinking there must not be many NRL fans on here when I saw the AFL, but no NRL thread.

Dig it out if you don't mind, mate. You never know, we might not even be the only two people posting in it.

TG4 on Monday nights show the highlights mate. No live games unless things have changed since last season. You're looking at streams.

No way that's bollox. The 2008 season was definitely shown live, my mate showed me his sky+ recently where he'd recorded me on tv a few times.

to be honest the highlights show would do me for every team apart from the Swans, it's their games I really want to see live. So I guess I'll be streaming then.

Cheers macco.

Didn't realise Craig Bolton has had to pull the plug on his career due to injuries :(

Brilliant defender, could play on the talls and smalls. Shame.
You have posted literally nothing of substance to flame about.  Your "points", and I dread to call them that, were superficial and completely arbitrary.  Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind.

What were the conditions like? I was listening a bit on the radio and at quarter time they said it was perfect conditions yet the goal kicking was shocking.

Was just awful, awful, awful football for 3 quarters. At a pedestrian pace, no real energy in the contest. Apart from Selwood getting knocked out in the first quarter and being stretchered off, it was coma-inducing stuff until the Cats kicked 3 in a row in the 3rd.

Can't help but smile at that. Hate all the Selwoods. Especially the c*nt up the road. Biggest c*nt of them all.

Fucking Geelong though. I tipped Saints.

Lads set up a Supercoach league.
If anyone wants to join go here http://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au/?p=register&league_code=176370&token=1c51cca2

Or if you register off the homepage the league code is - 176370

You won't be able to select your players until the end of round 1 though.
So I spose you can just wait until then.
Hopefully its not too late.

Gee my boys (collingwood) look brilliant, we look like we've actually improved from last year where the obvious contenders have plateu'd or even weakened, we really do look a complete side.

First round. Against Port Adelaide. And challenged on several occassions and really put under the pump.
Did well to recover albeit.
But lets just give it a month or so till we make those big calls.

G'wan the Dockers! Great game, well up for more of this if they continue on that form, superb finish. The Lions losing a few key players and crucially physical players in the final quarter was the turning point, because up to that they look like they could just squeeze Freo out. That Mcphee lad looks a class above and nearly scored what would have been goal of the seasons.

Ah good old McPhee. Unless he has changed since his Bomber days, you can usually expect him to follow up a decent performance with a string of blunder-ridden anonymous ones.

There are definitely some teams you tend to tip, then they have a string of losses. As soon as you drop off them, they start winning. Tell me I'm wrong. ;) And, how did Adelaide win that game anyway, they were toast at half time, then turned it around.
