We face a bit of a dilema.

Quote
Freo's giant draft coup

Fremantle are perfectly positioned to attack this year's draft after signing one of the nation's most talented young ruckmen with the knowledge they could also trade him for a coveted pick in the Greater Western Sydney mini-draft.

The Dockers have been developing 203cm, 84kg Craig Moller under the NSW scholarship scheme since he was just 14.

The dreadlocked youngster was also part of basketball's national junior development program and considered a future NBL player capable of representing Australia.

An exceptional athlete whose 20m sprint times are comparable to Eagle Nic Naitanui at the same age, Moller recently agreed to a two-year contract to join Fremantle in 2013.

He will start on the rookie list so the Dockers can have an extra pick in the national draft.

But he could also become a blue-chip trade commodity in October when clubs chase the two picks available in the GWS mini-draft.

WA midfielder Jack Martin and key forward Jesse Hogan are leading the mini-draft race after starring last weekend against Vic Country in the under-18s national titles.

The Giants, who cannot keep the mini-draft picks, are keen to bolster their ruck stocks. Moller is part of their academy and has played in the under-18s and State league for the club. He was discussed last year when Fremantle attempted to recruit Perth midfielder Jaeger O'Meara.

Moller's manager Peter Blucher said the ruckman was desperate to play AFL and signed with Fremantle because they had supported him brilliantly for three years.

But he said Moller understood he could still be traded.

"There's nothing to prohibit that from happening. Fremantle are now in the driver's seat because he's their player," Blucher said.

"He understands Fremantle have been good to him and his family for three years.

"That's a starting point.

"He's pretty open-minded about things after that."

Having Moller - New South Wales' best player at the under-16s national titles - on their list would give the Dockers enviable ruck depth.

It would also guard against further injuries to All-Australian Aaron Sandilands, or the prospect of losing the out-of-contract Jon Griffin.

But the opportunity to recruit a 17-year-old who could be the No. 1 draft pick in 2013 would also be a significant recruiting bonus.

Fremantle are chasing quick and skilled midfielders and Martin has exquisite skills, pace and athleticism.

Hogan is a power forward who has monstered opponents and could fill the hole in attack when Matthew Pavlich retires.

They were WA's best players against Vic Country.

Martin's 23 disposals included 13 contested possessions. He laid nine tackles and kicked goals off both feet in the first term.

Hogan kicked three goals and four of his six marks were contested. That performance followed 20 possessions, nine marks and 2.3 against NSW. He is 193cm and 91kg.

With an AFL contract assured, Moller has been advised not to play again this year because of knee and hip injuries.

He will travel to Perth during the school holidays to get assessed by Fremantle, then return to NSW to complete Year 12.

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/afl/14001124/

We need a key forward but also need a young ruckman to develop and be ready in 5 years. Hmmmmm. I think maybe take him and pick up young Mason Shaw in the draft to learn from Pav for a couple of years. He is a good South Freo boy who looks like he is going to be a decent key forward. Saying that, I would be happy with either of those 3 in the article.

It's bullshit that us as the home team have to wear white shorts instead of purple because it clashes with Essendon's black. The only sport in the world where the home team has to change their strip in case of a clash.

Huge sigh of relief, but massive concerns about running out a game. That's two games in a row now we've given up good leads and failed to just close things out.

Fair play to Horse for subbing out Goodes, he was very very poor, then course Everitt kicked the winner. Is that sunburn on his right arm, or a birthmark or something?

Tipped the Swans! Got nervous but came out okay.

Geelong usually does have a strong second half of the season, so they'll turn it on soon.  I wonder if they'll make the fourth spot.

We lost but a lot to like today.  Cox and Natanui were quiet, Kennedy and Le Cras to come back.  I'm guessing the media can put the whole 'can't play at the MCG' thing to bed now.

Piss poor coaching from Ross. Why on earth you would let Heppel run on his own off half back is beyond me. He killed us in that 2nd half. Hurley destroyed us in the first quarter. Lovett-Murray killed us when he came on as he normally does against us. Suban was piss poor. McPhee was piss poor and if either of them is in the team next week then it's bullshit. Morabito, Duffield, and Hill if fit should be in with Suban, McPhee and Crichton going out. It'll be more like Silvagni, Crozier and one of those 3 going out. For some unknown reason we ran out of legs which is inexcusable considering we had a bye last week. Barlow is starting to get back to how he was before his injury although there was almost another exact replica of it. Ballas and Hill were missed. Without them we lost a lot of run which Essendon used to destroy us. Mayne has come on leaps and bounds this year and it's good to see he is starting to kick goals to go with his forward pressure. We actually played good football for 3 quarters which was pleasing to see but 3 quarters doesn't win you a game.

I thought we were at the horses in the first quarter because we didn't seem to have backs. To be fair to the umps, they started paying them in the second half.

Oh and if the train is full, don't try and force your way onto the damn thing you gang of utter c*nts. I don't give a fuck if you are 60 and don't want to stand waiting for the next train, or if you are 15 and think you are hard. The train is fucking full you wanker.

Bring on Collingwood next week.

Haha freo fans are hilarious.

Just like all fans do you hypocrite. Even a bloke sitting near me who never complains about the umpires was having a go at them. Most of the booing you could hear was for that cheating c*nt Jetta anyway.

You simply cannot drop the mullet, Pepe, you should know better. I thought the exact some thing as you when Barlow went down. You guys should have stayed with the man on man stuff for all 4 quarters. And for the umpiring, I thought Freo got everything in the second half, especially getting away with a clear illegal disposal in the goal-square. You know it's bad when the commentators are actually pointing out the illegal disposal and criticising the umpire instead of doing their "everything about AFL is great and perfect" routine.

Ah yes, the mullet. You can tell he is from Tasmania can't you. Now all we need is Mayne to grow a curly mullet as well and we'll be set.

I wouldn't say everything in the second half. We did get a lot in the 3rd quarter but that was because we did have a lot of the ball. We barely had the ball in the last quarter to get anything.

I do find it funny they point out an illegal disposal when there is 50 a game yet they pick out 1.

One thing I would like to know is how that wasn't deliberate against Fletcher when he kicked the ball through from 20 meters out?

I will add bring in Son Son (Michael Walters) next week. Tearing it up in the WAFL and has done his time. Play him Rosco. I think Lachie Neale needs a rest as well. Those white shorts with the purple jumpers were shite. Shoulda told the AFL to get fucked and wore our purple ones.

I know, they paid that one that you see about 200 times a game. On the commentary, Darcy did his typical kiss the AFL's arse thing, where he thought the one in the goal square you had to "give the benefit of the doubt" and the one they did actually pay a few minutes later, "well you have to dispose of it with your fist". It's the worst.

I know what you mean about the Fletcher one. You see it and think it looked so odd, but I guess he is under pressure, it was a strange one.

But yeah, that mullet is truly glorious in how awful it is.

There is a difference between being under pressure and being a bitch. If memory serves me correct he had a player about 10 meters to his side he could have hand passed to but instead put it through.

The mullet is ridiculous. It's beautiful in a way but also rather disturbing.

The "under pressure" rule is ridiculous. Either allow rushed behinds under any circumstances, or make it like the deliberate out-of-bounds rule. As it stands, you have a rule by which players can theoretically be pinged, but it is never ever applied and everyone just end up geting pissed at the white maggots.

OK - that one by Fletch was ridiculous, granted.

Overall I thought we were good value for the win. Hurley as ever stood up, he is a GUN, Jobe was his usual reliable self and the rest of the team backed them up. OK Jetta did his best to cause a drama but the umps weren't having any of it. Tough shit on him.

Crameri played really well tonight even if the stats don't back him up, he was quality.

That mullet is just brilliantly bad. There's the other one at Richmond too (Maric I think?), if the two of them went head-to-head there would probably be too much mullet power and the universe would implode ;D

Can't find a picture of Jesse Chrichton's mullet :(
