The problem with European hip hop is that at best they are copy cats of hip hop that comes from you know where. French Hip Hop shines above the rest (of course, I don't understand polish so I can't tell what they are talking about, and I hear they make hip hop in Korea too). What beats me with some French artists is that not only do they copy the style of the beats, but the style of the rapper's delivery too.
There are some exceptions though. IAM from Marseille started their thing back in the late 80's, and I don't belive they copy 'that much', even though they did jump on the East Asian trip like the Wu at one point. Apart from that short episode, they are really good, and I saw that Erick Sermon dropped a joint with Shurik'n recently (Shurik'n is probably the best lyricist ever in French Hip Hop, and one of the best French lyricist ever. He can also flip into what I call a 'cinematic' style, something Biggie Smalls excelled at before making his popular money grabbing albums and singles). Other good ones are Jacky and Ben J, NTM, Fonky Family (even though their style is a direct plagiarism of the mid-90's East Coast music), and well, you'll know them when you hear them.
Just my tuppence on the matter.
