It is probably an XviD or DivX encoded video.  Download the individual codecs, or download ffdshow which containts them both.  Search Google for ffdshow and you should find it no probs.

Codec pack with batch installation. Very handy if you rebuild your machine often.

Google Gordian Knot Codec Pack - has nearly everything in a combined installer  :wave

Matroska is the only thing I've had to d'l separately, that and H.264 or whatever it's called, not that I can get it to work mind.

greame´s right, just use ffdshow first and see if it works, packs will only give headaches

maybe but try gettin rid of it when something goes wrong, codec packs are a bitch to clear up, ffdshow does divx and xvid as well as others, so therefore the only thing you might need extra are dual audio codecs. clean install no problems down the road

I never had problems with Codec packs either. I use Tsunami and it's got tonnes of utilities with it too. I find 3rd party players tend to give more trouble than codec packs.

for some of them, some you have to root in the registry to weed the out.

all i´m sayin is experience has taught me its easier and cleaner to just start with ffdshow and see if that covers all your needs. but each to their own, after all it´s your machine

I agree with you on this, only ever used one codec pack in my life (Nimo) and had a hell of a lot of problems trying to figure out which one's were required, which one's caused conflicts, took me about 10 install and uninstalls to sort it out, but that was back when I knew naff all about what I was doing. I just install them individually now as and when I need one, which is pretty rare I must say, find I can play practically anything with the codecs I have installed and using VLC player or WMP.
I am not the resurrection.

Nimo's cack. Think it was the first... trust me, Gordian Knot's fine... has ffdshow, divx, xvid, ogg and a coupla others... all standard and all you need really (maybe Matroska now and again)  :wave
