We need to get the cheque book out, we have to ask ourselves why havent we got a replacement for Mane in knowing he was off this month?
Nobody apart from the keeper comes out of tonight with any dignity, absolute dog shit of a performance and I feel sorry for those who travelled down to the south coast tonight.

I love Klopp and wouldn't swap him for any coach but I'd love to see him be more proactive in his in-game management. His use of subs sometimes frustrates me, waiting until the 83rd minute to introduce Origi was a mistake in my opinion. Leaving Can on for the entirety of the game also baffled me. This is not so say I know better than him, just that I wish he would take the initiative sooner than he does sometimes.

Give Klopp better players and he will win everything.

Yes. No contest there.  Corners and free kicks awarded to us prove to be more dangerous to our defence that the opposition.

I dont know why we bother with high balls in. we hardly even challenge in the air as if knowingly we cant compete the duel

I prefer a short or a better set piece working with a couple of moves

Can poor tonight but let's not do that RAWK thing where we destroy a player. I've been round these parts long enough and seen too much 'disgust' at poor form. I imagine he'll be out of the team come Sunday.

As for the team, that is comfortably the worst performance of the season.

Glad it was tonight and not Sunday. Klopp doesn't lose twice on the spin...

Not too bad a result considering the performance. It was like a carbon copy of the united game before Xmas where we couldn't create anything but struggled with counter attacks.

I think united will try be braver on Sunday than they were at anfield which should leave things a little bit more easer for us to create better chances and hopefully score a few. Hopefully lallana is dropped back into midefield for his ball carrying and energy.
Having Welbeck try and mark Pirlo is ridiculous. It's like trying to get a golden retriever to stop a tennis ball machine.Because one is a machine designed for a very specific purpose that it is peerless at, and the other is a fucking dog.

Honestly, you'd think we were losing games left, right and centre. Why should we jump on the transfer narrative the moment we lose a single game.

It's been a really good season and we've got a great manager and coach in Klopp.

A fairly good team beat us at their place, whilst we have some important players away on international duty, out injured or just returning from injury. Even then they only managed to beat us by one goal and still need to come back to our place, where those injured players should all be back to their normal selves.

Coutinho looked nowhere near fully sharp. That burst of acceleration to take him past a player was missing. That sharpness of movement, the drastic change in angles that leaves a defender dead was missing. The crispness to his passes, the weight and angles of passing was missing too. But he was head and shoulders above everyone in red and his coming on immediately saw most of the play go through him. That's how good he is and we've got to be glad he's back. Now we really need some pace on the other end to create some space for Phil and to have another outlet.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

He's a nice lad, and deserves a testimonial I'm sure. But he really shouldn't be playing for the first team anymore. If we can't move him on, let's get him on the U23s where his experience could be really useful without having to cope with the chasm of when he plays in the first team.
Imo, he's still the best defensive midfielder at the club. And certainly better than Can or Stewart in that position. He also gives Klavan a run for his money at centre back too.

I'm sure Klopp and the coaches plan for every team who has a tactic to sit deep against us. We struggle every single time so god knows why you think it will be so easy for us in the next leg.

Because I've watched plenty of teams sit back this season, they don't deploy this tactic just for us. They break it down with a combination of quick balls, midfield runners and width. For years I've heard fans moaning about sides lack of intention against United and just rolling over, there is no difference.

Mate, Milners form this season has been better than your world record superstar.

Dangerous to be gloating just because you beat Hull.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Consecutive.

Bad time to stop scoring goals, with the game on Sunday. Firmino looks abject, Sturridge shouldn't start games and Hendo couldn't come back soon enough. I hope, we somehow remember how we have played all last year because this year, has been shit until today.

Oh and someone drive Lucas to Milan please.

Yep. Good win for them but also think they kinda blew their chance. Anfield, semi final, under the lights, they aren't getting through. Though no doubt we'll do something insanely tense like come from 3 down to win 5-3 or 1-0 and pens.

Dunno if he's been shite all season - he's been injured hasn't he? - but against Sunderland, Plymouth and now Southampton he has been poor. Seems off it somehow, mentally slow and carrying some timber.
For me play Stewart if you want a destroyer who wins the ball and plays it 5/6 yards to the creative players.

Lucas and Can should never be in the same midfield pairing unless we are well on top and looking to close out a game.
