No one wants to 'sell the manager out'. All people are saying is if Rafa were to leave, then they want Jose in.

You don't think that's incredibly disrespectful to our manager then? You and me obviously exist in different worlds.

It's disrespectful if the owners start talking to Jose ala Klinsmann or the fans call for Rafa's removal. This is a football forum where all people are doing is discussing scenarios - most of which are hypothetical and/or BS. We do exist in different worlds Andy. I love Liverpool more than I hate their rivals.

And just for the record, I'm part of the IRWT brigade.

Andy, I agree that he is the opposite of what LFC stands for and having him here is not in our best interest.  But to say that it would never be the same club is to disregard our history and values and to say that one man's presence can alter an institution, a strong one with a special identity, forever.  I have no doubt however bad his reign might be, LFC would recover.

I know what you're saying mate. But our long history has had - how many? Managers? Compared to every other top flight club? It's a tiny number. Each were hand picked and each had differing personalities - but each were linked to LFC - the continuation was there. Then we got Ged in who did a terrific job and seemed to match 'The Liverpool Way' and then we got Rafa in and he seemed to match 'The Liverpool Way'..

My concern would be once we've sold our soul to an idiot like Mourinho and all the media shite that goes with it, then whatever 'difference' LFC has at this moment in time will be gone - much as the boot room was smashed to pieces by Souness. Once it's gone, it's gone. If someone rebuilt the boot room - it would be stupid and pointless.

Mourinho would only stay a season or two. At best. Then we would (I believe) be on a merry-go-management situation like all other other 'wannabe' clubs. We haven't got that yet. But once the rot starts, it'll keep going.

Benitez is still there because it's not 'The Liverpool Way' to bin managers randomly throughout their tenure at the club. We're a little better than that. But once that's changed - it won't change back - why would it? We do things as we do because of that history - but once that history has moved on, then so will we.

Because he's not our manager?
No, because anyone with the basic ability to judge a mans character will tell you the same

What's he got anything to do with anything? Overbearing, piss-stained, 'knight of the realm' socialist (!) bully sound OK with you? A born winner but wholly undignified nonetheless

I'm not sure if you're aware but the view of other club's supporters of Rafa isn't too far away from our view of Maureen.
That's because they lap up everything they read in the tabloids and hear on Soccer Saturday. Why give a shiny shit what other fans think of our manager anyway?

Quote
We're all hypocrites when it comes to the view of our own manager compared to others but don't let complete irrationality get in the way of that.
Again, I have my own view of our manager and it hasn't been coloured by the media. Not sure how you've decided my views are irrational?!?

Quote
If Rafa was to move on and personally I'd rather he didn't then we should try and get the best manager available which for many people would be Mourihno.
What's your take on this then........., Makes sense to me.
If Rafa was to leave surely we would want to get a manager who doesn't share his faults and a manager that plays a more expansive, attacking style? This is what baffles me - the criticisms of Rafa's football are the same with Mourinho, even when he had a £200m budget he still played shit, long ball, negative football. He created a £300m Wimbledon at Chelsea. Surely people who hate the football under Rafa, and there are many, would want a manager with an attacking philosophy?
A great motivator, but tactically astute?

Why the fuck would Mourinho leave Inter Milan ?
To come to Liverpool, who are not in the best financial position, who have not won the League for decades and most likely will not be in the Champions League next season.
Yeah, he'd love all that ...

You do realise Andy that there are a great many on here who won't have a fucking clue what any of that means or the ramifications of what you have highlighted?

It's not about the team, it's about the club and what it stands for.Having someone like him at our club would tell me that what Liverpool F.C represents doesn't exist anymore.
I respect the views of others.

For me Liverpool is my club, and there is not a managerial appointment that could be made that would stop me going. Our club represents our community, our city and our region. I don't go to the game to chat to the manager.

The modern obsession with "the manager" is becoming depressing, when Joe and Bob were in charge you could go to  games and not hear their names mentioned. I get behind the team - and always will.

As for what LFC represents, currently it is a period of 20 years without the league title, and i would quite like that to change.

No. I was going to put that bet on against "The G in Gerrard" who has now called me a liar three times. You just jumped in. But if you want to take this bet on as well, the feel free. Don't forget though, if it's witnessed on here, then you're committed to it.

I haven't called you a liar i just merely said your hypocritical in your posts that you would throw your toys out of the pram because Mourinho could ever be our boss.

You going or not going to games i don't care about whoever the manager is but you seem to wish to discuss losing games so Mancs don't win things, etc etc, probably witness the vast followers of our club who don't embody the Liverpool spirit but yet would have a problem with a manager ::)

I hope you stop and we get Mourinho. :)

I bet you were one of those Lunatics who were threatening Mr Moores and Parry that in case they've sold to a "Sugardaddy owner" that would allow the manager to match Chelsea's spending you would stop going to games. They made you a big favour and they did NOT bring a sugardaddy, now you're unhappy with the current owners and you use the "not enough Spending argument" to back Rafa's results.

You're threating of stop going to games, if Mourinho takes over at Anfield. How ludicrous.
I think this tme we should give it a try and get Mourinho at your presence's expence. There will be others to keep your seat warm.

What a load of shite. Seems like you've missed the point entirely. Ever been to Anfield? Know anything about what the club stands for, the city and its people?
