That does look good, though I'm going to Manchester after the match so won't make it.

Just seen Billy Bragg is playing the Phil in November, love a bit of Billy so I'll be all over that. Next up I've got the Hot 8 Brass Band (again!) but this time at the invisible wind factory

Looking forward to tonight. Scouse legend Ste Williams (ex- Cecil / Voy) and now fronting Takotsubo Men, launch their new album, 3rd of 4, at 81 Renshaw St.

Ste is a massive Red, too. All the best with the album, Ste, Paddy and Stu.  :thumbup

Thoroughly enjoyed Brian Wilson Presents Pet Sounds at the exhibition centre tonight, first visit to the venue and it seemed OK. They had seating at the front and standing at the back which worked well.

The seating/standing arrangement didn't work at all well the previous night with the Gary Numan show. Numan apologised to fans over it and in a review of the show it also said that the issue needs looking into.

Glad you enjoyed Brian Wilson, though.  :)

I was right by the barricade so might've been lucky with it. Hopefully it's an issue they can sort easily enough.

Saw Numan on Thursday and it was odd to say the least. Standing, seating, then more standing.

The sound was great though.

The sound was great though.
I read on Numan's Facebook that his wife spent most of the day trying to get the seating/standing configuration changed but the venue wouldn't have it. Numan had no idea about how the arena was to be set up beforehand and has now apologised to those with awful views.

Sounds like he enjoyed the show, though. He said it was his biggest Liverpool crowd since 1979.  That was the first time I saw him live, at the Empire Theatre all those years ago.

Belle and Sebastian at the Phil in March next year on the horizon for me.

Don't know if it's just me getting old but 3/4 years ago there were decent gigs every other week in Liverpool, these days i go months without seeing anyone. Mostly these days i have to travel to Manchester for gigs, its depressing.

Don't like to say it but it might be your age mate, there's dozens of gigs a year I'd love to go to but can't due to life not allowing...

Just in the last month, I'd have liked to go to Psychfest, Steve Reich's 'Different Trains' (tho this did get cancelled in the end), Ducktails, The Jesus & Mary Chain, plus loads of local bands, putting on their own events like the Strange Collective all dayer at the Invisible Wind Factory which had tons of great local bands.

I do still have to go to Machester though sometimes. We don't currently have a venue as good as the Deaf Institute there IMO.

Have you seen him before? This will be my fourth gig of his I think, he's a bit mental but really good live.
