http://www.youtube.com/v/buJ2DZZHHAI?version=3&hl=en_GBI love this tune. Love it for its understated contribution in ending a shite trend of synth pop many of us endured in the 80's. Also love it for advocating sport and socialism as a means to bring groups of people *together* rather than trying to separate (fuck off Cameron & Osborne you silver spooned twats).
Anyway, I'll get to the point here and say yesterday hurt.
- It hurt because on the biggest domestic stage of all we were wretched for 63 mins and allowed an in-form Chelsea every opportunity to take control of the game.
- It hurt because for the remaining 27 mins we dominated yet couldn't find a 2nd goal to stretch the match into extra time and possibly beyond. (Credit to Cech for that astonishing save. Almost Dudek-esque).
- It hurt because the narrative of the season (probably correctly) will be written as one of failure, where chronic profligacy and the nervous driven hyper-activity of our attacking play in the league overshadowed some impressively cutting and countering attacking football in knock-out matches.
- It hurt for many other reasons too, but I refuse to lower myself to the same levels of bile shown by those plastics who thought it entertaining to disrespect a minutes silence.
But there you go. LFC has produced moments of unparalleled joy in my lifetime, but the game can also shit on you from a great height, as it did yesterday. Redemption, thankfully, is just around the corner in the form of a new season.
Whatever next season brings and regardless of the unanswered questions that always seem to swirl around the club, it's 'All together now' though..... right? At least that's a start!
