We're finished with the top 6 now, just Everton at home left on the top 7 as well.

United still have 4 left against the top 6, Arsenal 3 & City 3

I haven't posted the Top 8 table in awhile, the current top 7 with the champs, Leicester.

Shocking how many matches United, Arsenal & City have left to go while we're all done!

Even Spurs still have 3 to go.  If we hold our nerve, we can still finish 2nd.

We have 73 points at present, GD+33.

In last 10 seasons, that would have been good enough, after 38 games to be:

15/16:  - 2nd

14/15:  - 4th

13/14:  - 5th

12/13:  - 5th on GD.  4th place had GD of +35

11/12:  - 3rd

10/11:  - 2nd

09/10:  - 4th

08/09:  - 4th

07/08:  - 5th

06/07:  - 3rd

So 70% of the time, our current points tally (even with a GD slightly worse than we have now, has been enough for top 4).

For what it's worth, in 2 of the 3 seasons in which 73 points was only hypothetically good enough for 5th, that year's LFC was one of the teams in the top 4 (2nd in 08/09 and 13/14 respectively).

In other words, in 9 out of the last 10 seasons, had LFC got 73 points, then they would have been in the top 4.

In the only other season (12/13), 73 points would have seen us lose out only on Goal Difference (to Arsenal).

Great effort so far.  Fingers crossed for Sunday!!!

Was just thinking about this, and there it is...interesting stuff, thanks.

Just highlights how difficult it is becoming to finish in the top 4, and it will continue to I'm sure...

What's the position for 76 points?

I don't want to jinx anything but assuming we do beat Boro where would that leave us?

I think I'm being thick but it looks like 08/09 was a "good enough for 4th year"?
