GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING (AFTERNOON/EVENING) SPORTS FANS!

CT here on little sleep and bringing you the first comms in the new year. \\

A year which we will continue to thrash our opposition.

First up is David Moyes and Sunderland....
I watched a YouTube video and decided that Paul Konchesky looked like a player.

Game plan has been set within the first 5 minutes, Liverpool passing it around the middle and the flanks and Sunderland happy to give us the ball.

3' Sturridge commanding space and the ball but miss places a pass into the Sunderland Box, we build again and in less then 20 second we are attacking them again and a better cross goes into the box, but cleared by former red, Fabio Borini.

4' some nice one-twos between Clyne and Lallana leads to another half chance, nothing in it but we are looking sharper. Moyes sitting their like a grim little gargoyle waving one hand to urge his players on.... and it kind of worked, Defoe has a shot from outside the box a wee bit later, Migs saves the low bouncing shot.

6' Can gives away a free kick some 30 yards our, free header but it is clear of the goal and the flag is up. Goal kick, and we can build again, Sturridge gets a crack at goal, nearly there but saved, no one there to tap in the keepers spillage.... ball cleared and we do it again this time Gini gets a boot in, cleared for a corner. poor corner and there is a Sunderland Goal kick.

Just a shade of intensity missing in these early stages from the Reds. Perhaps just a touch of fatigue as opposed to any element of complacency.

10' Sturridge to Gini, and back again, then to Milner, who finds Bobby... who some how gets the ball after a slip and dances into the box... but nothing yet in the way of goals.... they are coming...

Sunderland goal kick after the ball bounces off Gini's shin.

He has been the difference, and we have been reminded of Defoe's danger.

13' As I type this Rodwell has a go and gets a good hit, Migs saves and parries the ball away, we clear, but Ref calls the game back, Rodwell fouls Can late, and gets the first yellow of the game...

Two solid chances for Sunderland thus far and we're not winning the second ball nearly as often as we would ordinarily. Hopefully we'll click sooner rather than later or it could be a long afternoon and an even longer trip home.

16' Jam jam goes over theatrically and the ref waves play on. Liverpool looking a bit off the pace and getting closed down. Sunderland are up for it and Liverpool kinda slow to get out of the blocks.

17'  Good build up play on the edge of the box, Sturridge fires a hard shot from outside the box a Manone' gets a strong hand to it and pushes it out of danger.

Liverpool press again and Lallana with a dangerous cross goes out for a corner.

A beauty from Sturridge - really showed his class there. He was moving in the opposite direction, saw the ball come looping over from the kick into the turf, jumped and turned his head in one smooth movement to put the ball past a despairing Mannone. :champ

That was fantastic work from Mignolet. 9 times out of 10 a genuine striker like Defoe buries that.

Abject last 5-10 minutes from the Reds here. Real indolence to their play and Sunderland look more like the team sitting second in the Premier League.

Liverpool pressing has improved in the last 5 minutes and we've spent most of our time up there.

35' - Sunderland putting in a shift here. Can they keep it up? I reckon not. Larson with dangerous cross but Defoe is offside.

We work the ball forward again, ball now in dangerous areas .

36' - Sturridge in with a shot from the edge of the box that Mannone palms to the right.

The ball comes in again from the left but hits traffic as a shot is fired in through the middle.
