Were the English fans singing have you ever seen Germany win a war there?  :o

They were indeed, such a charming bunch.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

Surprised by the great reception Poldi got when he was subbed off considering he played for Bayern and Koln.

I can't imagine the crowd at Anfield would give this reception to a former United player even if he was ending his England career.

Not necessarily all Dortmund fans are they?  Beckham scored am England winner at Anfield and was cheered.

Very England football team.

Play a new system, play the best team, declare it to be working very well, lost 1-0 against the a weak Germany team.

We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks

Reading the excellent Guardian live commentary feed on the Iraq V Australia game (I have a bet on the game)

45 min Australia kick off and Juric just runs straight at the Iraq defence ala Mark Lee in the final scene of Gallipoli. It was the same, result, metaphorically:lmao

Brazil play tonight at 11 pm UK time v Uruguay ( Suarez suspended for this)

Tite also confirmed that Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino will start in place of the injured Gabriel Jesus, leaving Sport striker Diego Souza – the first player from a club in the North Eastern region of the country to be called up for a qualifier since 2001 – on the bench.

“Firmino's in great form at Liverpool, so is Diego Souza, especially over the last year at Sport, where he has become a [one of the best] in the Brazilian league,” Tite said. “Firmino has come in well, and is scoring goals, so he has justified his selection.”

Brazil have worked intensively on attacking movement their two proper training sessions this week, with Firmino set to operate in a false no.9 position that will require a slight variation to Tite’s tried and tested 4-1-4-1 setup.

Gabriel Jesus, out with a broken toe, is the top scorer under Tite, having netted five goals in six matches. Firmino, Neymar and Philippe Coutinho will be charged with finding the net in his absence.

60% of games played, zero goals conceded. 3 of the remaining 4 matches are in Tehran.

Quieroz is a defensive god. Maybe he's that Defensive coach we've been looking for all these years.

A win vs. China in Tehran on Tuesday, and I can safely book my hotels on Tverskaya St for next summer

Firmino upfront with Neymar and Phil flanking him. Will be interesting to watch them 3 upfront interchange. Think Tite is doing a great job so far, expecting Brazil to continue with their domination in this qualification.

Diego Rolan starts in Suarez's absence. Could have been fun seeing him and Coutinho against each other.
Also how on earth that ex Spurs Paulinho starting in their midfield?

Phil with some dribbling out right touch line, cuts in side, pass to Firmino who turns and shoots from center of the goal at the 18 yard line,, keepers saves low to his left. Paulinho first to the rebound.

1-2 Brazil

Neither.

I think Ireland will sneak it though.  Think they're generally strong at home and think Wales will have a slight Euros hangover.

That's based on absolutely nothing and it's not even me being mean on purpose about Wales,  unlike the Rugby I like them to do well in football.

Yes, you are correct. It was a typo on my part. England did alright on the pitch. The better side for much of the game.

My post should have said "get smashed" rather than "got smashed".  :)
