Michael Johnson at the olympics, Atlanta.
When he ran 19:32?  That's etched so much on my mind, was just so spectacular to see, I think he took over three tenths off the old record didn't he?  Astonishing to watch.  Seems pretty humble too when I've seen him.

The Texas Western college basketball team of 1965-66. The first all-black starting 5 to win an NCAA championship. They went 28-1 in the entire season.

Actually, I checked before posting in the thread, and he had set the world record at 19:66 in june, 1996, before the olympics in august. I remember it clearly too! His perfomances in 1996 in the 200 and 400m is among the most iconic moments in the olympic history for me. He had a very special style, looking like he was leaning backwards with the feet running like drumsticks..

That Gazza against Scotland goal is ridiculous. So so good. I liked England under Venables. Watchable, attacking intent. Light years from what the Hodge serves up.

He won the gold medal in the marathon at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but because Korea had been annexed by Japanese Empire, became the only winner to never hear his national anthem had to listen to another nation's anthem. At the 1980 Olympics the UK team and lots of others did not get the national anthem in protest at the Soviet Afghan invasion.

Even to this day, the cheating against Roy Jones Jr, denying him a deserved gold medal, is a felony of the highest order.

Yeah.. The worst steal ever! And the 'winner' knew it.. I actually felt a little sorry for him too. He didn't deserve to stand there like a clown. The olympics in Seoul was so bad.. The injustice against Roy Jones Jr. was the worst of them all, but there were so many of them.
