That has never worked for anyone in recent memory. Us with Suarez, Napoli with Cavani, Spurs with Bale, you have to put the money back into that same position. Lukaku cost £28m and they will sell for about £50m, they need another £25-30m player to replace the things he offers.

Honestly i don't see them being able to replace Lukaku with 25-30m player. The market is crazy now.
If they are smart, they can try to offload Ross Barkley to Utd for extra cash, only Utd can be that idiot to pay big bucks for him.

Gotta replace a number of ageing players on the 7th best team in the league while paying for a stadium. They're gonna do that and overtake 3 teams in the process?

Ok, looking forward to it.

I bet they'll have a spade in the ground within 60 days of announcing the new stadium.
Then in the midddle out pops a smiling glen johnson pulling up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt of suarez with a text saying. "OUR SUAREZ IS A FRIEND TO ALL COLOURS!"

Meanwhile on GOT

Quote
Monaco's Kylian Mbappé, 18 years old - successful already at the Champions League level this year, compared to Thierry Henry should be targeted as potential Lukaku successor (or #2 to Rom, if he stays).

Dortmund's Ousamane Dembele, 19 years old - he might push out Aubameyang, that's how good he is already. 6 Goals and 9 Assists in just 15 starts and 23 appearances in the Bundesliga

Yes, go for the guy who's possibly better than someone you could never get

Quote
IN
Timo Horn - 8m (his release clause)
Charlie Taylor - 5m (tribunal fee)
Rachid Ghezzal - free
Michael Keane - 25m (only one year left from his contract)
Jose Gimenez - 30m (only one year left from his contract)
Youri Tielemans - 30m
Gylfi Sigurdsson - 30m
Wayne Rooney - free (United will happily let him go just to get him off the books)
Patrik Schick - 22m (his release clause)
TOTAL = 150m

OUT
James McCarthy - 20m
Ramiro Funes Mori - 15m
Kevin Mirallas - 10m
Tom Cleverley - 8m
Oumar Niasse - 10m
Gerard Deulofeu - 20m
Aaron Lennon - 3m
Aiden McGeady - 1m
Shani Tarashaj - 1m
Luke Garbutt - 1m
Conor Grant - 1m
TOTAL = 90m

NET SPEND = +60m

£75m for fumes more, McCarthy, Mirallas, deulefou and niasse, indeed.

Quote
I say we go for a realistic option. James Rodriguez.

Which one?

Quote
Talking to a mate last night. A good point was raised, so much so compared to previous years.

The timing of the contract news is bad, but consider what month they are doing it in? Season ticket renewal time? Considering they have done this before over moshiri and war chests, promises of business early and the rest, is the timing a bit odd? Consider it this way, as soon as it comes to season ticket renewal time, our best player comes out, rejects a contract and demands the club show ambition and sign better players to challenge for the champions league spots. We then release a statement saying don't worry, he is our player etc.

It is almost like the message is trying to be put out there that the club is finally going to have a bit of ambition and invest in the team, kinda like last season around the same time?

This guy gets it

He's got a tattoo on his wrist that says "I hate blackie blackie blackie blacks, and I fucking love handballing it into the opponent's goal and away from my own goal, and biting people, and kicking young kids in the bollocks when they ask for autographs. And diving. I fucking love that."

Also don't like Carragher doing an interview with GOT given the fact they throw out Heysel and "always the victim" shouts at every opportunity. It's the absolute dregs of their fanbase that most blues would be embarrassed by, but I suppose he might not be aware of that
