This is a game that could in the long run be absolutely pivotal in what happens at the end of the season. No individual game can make or break a season, but in terms of importance, this one certainly carries a lot more weight. I'm desperately hoping we can win this one. There's a real marker to be laid and we could do it.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Its not about doing it against City, its about doing it against the likes of Stoke when its 0-0, 0-1 or 1-1. Unfortunately we have a manager who's a dream and wants the fans to sing, shout and support the team and 'gets it', but we have a club who order stewards to tell people to sit down and shut up in these smaller games.

Its been the same for years and it wont change until the club allows the fans to be different to what the current set up allows.

We always turn up for the big games, we don't need orchestrating for them. We don't need rallying calls from the manager, forums, shitty SKY adverts or anything like that. We're the fuckin best supporters in the league when we want to be and are allowed to be. What we need is the ability to produce it on a game by game basis, no matter the opposition. Then the mentality will change.

If the club & stewards can turn a blind eye at the KOP standing for the big games like City, UTD, Everton, Chelsea, Dortmund, etc then maybe they should do the same for the rest of them? Then we will really see the mentality of the crowd change instead of 2 minutes into the game after YNWA and Poor Scouser Tommy everyone sitting down and settling into their seats.

We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

Time to consider safe standing? I know the Hillsborough families oppose this, but rail seats are nothing like the old terraces. It has to be safer than standing amid seats.

Spot people who regularly sing over the course of a season, offer them a season ticket or a discounted one and place them in groups around the ground (people are more likely to join in if there's more around them singing). Something's got to be done because it's the worst I've ever known it by some distance and it's pissing me off.

Aye aye.

Not quite the second leg semi final where we are one game from the final itself but if this post by Evo can’t get you going for Wednesday then quite frankly nothing fucking will.

But we are back in the final stages of European competition. There are people and players doubting what we can do as a collective unit on Wednesday night. This is one thing that often brings most of us together. Let’s show these Manchester oligarch  bastards what an atmosphere is all about.
