I think the youngsters did well, as did Plymouth to keep us out for 96 minutes. I would just play the kids again in the replay, the priority is the league and the league cup right now.

Not surprised, never easy to score against two parked busses. Replay sucks though. Just part of the processes. We will have many small setbacks.

Woodburn looked good, would have kept him on instead of Ojo. His off-the-ball movement is excellent, but we didn't really use him well enough.

Sturridge looked sharp.

Defence was good, not that there was anything to do.

That's the positives. Big negative - Moreno on all set pieces, still! Bloody hell. Sort it out. Other big negative was the fact it was being played out in a library, but I suppose it's early kick-off against a L2 team.

Not that disappointed to tell the truth. More pleased for Plymouth.

We were sluggish, no attacking verve.

Another run out for the young lads, they'll play far better down there.

oh well. we're still in the cup, and we all want our young players to get more chances (since we're not in europer). didn't do us much harm last season on our run to two finals either.

not much wrong with today, just a bit lacking in intensity up front. we weren't helped by a shite home crowd, but it's probably understandable given the way the game played out. shame about the early leavers too.

hopefully people understand this, and don't slaughter the young players or klopp for it

The kids won't have faced a team that have no intention of winning, so it's a good experience for them. Play the same team in the replay where they will have to be more adventurous.

Agreed. Not too fussed, to be honest. Just means more game time for those that need it.

Exactly, it's not as if there'll be many first teamers involved. We're always looking for the youngsters to get some playing time and now they'll get another chance.
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.

A replay last year with Europe on the horizon was something we could have really done without. Fuck it, it's a nice trip to the seaside for our young lads. I look forward to someone like Stewart getting scapegoated when he misses the decisive penalty in the shootout!

Play the kids again if we have to. Don't care about the cup this year to be honest. We've got a massive chance in the league.

Word on Plymouth and the English mythology surrounding the cup. There's a reason that England don't do shit in any tournament, which is that rather than this Plymouth style defence being the exception, it is the rule here for poorer teams playing better ones. Their fans, their players etc were all small time as fuck. Hopefully we teach the Pilgrims what the missionary is like when we play them next.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

That's what happens when you play the reserves. Play the same side in the replay.
Agreed, it's not like our first team draw with Plymouth 0-0 it was our reserves.

You can't expect players who rarely play together in the first team, to play free flowing football it's unrealistic.

This game showed how weak our squad is compared to the likes of United, Arsenal, Chelsea and City.

Really do not need that replay. All I can say about that.
It's another really good learning opportunity for the kids. These things happen, they were extremely well drilled and we utterly dominated possession without quite having a cutting edge. Shame we didn't have Coutinho to bring on, would have been an ideal game for him.

Not at all bothered by that, to be honest. I reckon it's actually a really positive opportunity to give meaningful minutes to young players and fringe players who we've hardly used, and who won't be getting many, if any, other opportunities this season.

Play the kids again in the replay.

This. Massive game in midweek. Massive game at the weekend. This was a shot to nothing. We win and it's all good. Replay in ten days and we can play the kids or a few more first teamers. We could have played a full
Strength team and had them fucked for the semi final.

Rubbish. The whole team needs some header training. Thought there were some good performances in there, Woodburn especially was bright.

I'm sorry but Stewart isn't good enough. People forget he's not a kid. He's 23. Apart from a few good passes when a game is killed off he's not once impressed me during his time here. I thought Klopp left the changes 5-10 mins too late as it was obvious the kids were struggling to break Plymouth down.

Respect to them though. They had a game plan and stuck to it. Their fans were excellent as well, ours were disgustingly quiet.

If I ever see Moreno near the corner flag again I'm gonna lose it.

All players playing by the script, no creativity at all.

A game we could easily have done without.

It would be great to be given decisions in such matches, like the clear peno somewhere around the 55th min.
Yes it was a penalty but since we didn't trouble their keeper we didn't deserve to win.

Too many poor crosses especially from the right and no real attempt to beat players that are in the 4th tier.

Lessons learnt all round here, for the youngsters and Klopp and co. Another game which we didn't need. Would still expect a young team at their place regardless.

As long as we don't take any senior players to the replay it's fine

Really bad / dumb second half - why the fuck were we lofting in crosses so often?! Bizarre
We did that all first half long as well, far too many chipped and floated passes, not enough one touch passing around the box. Good learning experience, though.

Meh fuck it, the writing was on the wall from early on.

I know there's a tendency to gush and overstate the quality of the youngsters, but I can't see any of them knocking on the first team door any time soon.

Play the kids again. The FA cup is bottom of the list of priorities at the moment.

Yep congrats to Plymouth. As annoying as it is, they played really well.

Such a boring and dull game. At least the replay will hopefully be more lively.

Could have done without the extra game, but these things happen. Plymouth now get to enjoy a big game at home, so fair props to them.

They put 11 behind the ball, we seemed to think it was only going to be a matter of time, which might be fine in the first 20-30 minutes but after that you really have to think a bit more about what you're doing. Doing the same thing over and over isn't going to work if they're comfortable with it. A similar side will be picked for the replay so it's not going to wear any of the first teamers out. Good experience for the youngsters.
