Is the title challenge still on, or have they given the trophy to Chelsea yet?

Well yeah it's on but sorry to break it to you mate, it's another team in red who'll be the only real challengers.

Super impressed with Wijnaldum, looked so comfortable on the ball and his distribution was class. Same with Hendo

Nice message to the rest of the league, that. Scoring first against us makes us angry! Utd used to do that a lot.

I rate Matip as honestly the best defender I've seen in a Liverpool shirt - and yet for me Klavan and Lovren keep him out of the side against City. 1 goal in three games conceded, 9 points, 9 goals scored...they've surely played themselves into starting that match, and have done nothing for Matip to deserve to walk straight back into the side.

I have the odd moan about Mignolet's footwork (which has nevertheless improved) but shout out to him too. He showed a fantastically professional attitude when out of the team, he's been noticably quicker and more aggressive in his distribution and speed off the line, and he really hasn't put a foot wrong, and was great at handling Stoke's aeriel bombardment today. The whole defence just seems very confident.
He is the cat who walks by himself, and all roads are alike to him.

Could have been a very different match if they scored the second, but weathered a difficult 15minutes and took control.

Yep. I couldn't believe Crouch didn't get on the end of that. We looked far better after they failed to add a second

The Sky commentary made out like Liverpool had been poor, and the analysis seems to be suggesting we had Charles Itandje in goal.

Maybe De Gea saves Walters' effort, but the header is powerful and it's behind Migs before he can react, so to save it he'd actually have had to scoop it out of the goalmouth.

Mignolet should have stopped that though. That's the difference between a good keeper and a top keeper. And top sides play with top keepers.

Well done to Migs, agree with Dan above, just because it was near post it was tough to stop. Then made a huge save at 0-1 along with a few brave decisions to come for crosses.

On we go!

Shaky for 20 something minutes at the beginning, with Gini and Hendo struggling a bit to control the midfield, but excellent after that. Lallana was great and it was always going to be smooth sailing after we managed to turn it around inside the first half. Stoke clearly talied off at the end of the first half and didn't have the ability and dynamism to put up a strong fight in the second half.

All the talking about Migs after this doesnt make much sense, IMO. I've criticised him in the past and I was all for a new keeper taking over the starting gig in the summer, but he's clearly proven to be the better option so far this season. It would've taken a top class save to keep that header out and Mané and Lovren surely should shoulder more of the blame for that. Plus he was very good on the Allen chance and very proactive in coming out to claim a couple of tricky crosses.

On to City.

Teams can give everything they have & produce a good 20 mins against us, but very few will be able to outplay us over an entire game.

Top keepers make mistakes aswell. De Gea, the best keeper in the league, has made one or 2 this season. Chelseas first goal immediately springs to mind.

No keeper is perfect, but we can't be making that particular argument when our keepers over the last two or three seasons have been near the bottom rather than the top of the save percentages and near the top of the pile for mistakes leading to goals.

45 goals in 18 games is so impressive and we've done it without a dominant no.9. Really proud of the team for this and their mental fortitude they showed not only today but this entire season.

The reaction after going 1-0 down was very good (bar a dodgy 5min spell straight afterwards) but we took back control and scored 4 goals without even playing
that well and controlled most of the game from there. This team has so many different players that can score and assist and we do it in a methodical way that's
difficult to stop for 90min. Once again we finished strong and Stoke were out on their feet, I read a stat that said we covered more distance in this game than any
other and teams are finding it very difficult to live with us.
