Seriously tho, The Kop will be the key to this one, make a champions league out of this and the noise alone will score us 2 before half time

we had better teams coming to anfield in the champions league leaving them humiliated at full time

Anything more that 6m for Joe Allen and we have been ripped off.

Loads of Joe allens out there.

I would like to see him stay at Swansea myself and see if he can have another decent season. He is a championship player - players like a championship player.

Wished Manchester City had more Balotellis around. We could either make a statement of taking the challenge up to the top team or blame the luck of the draw when the result doesn't favour us.

They used to call this Liverpool's cup. Let's remind people why!

Any chance a mod could change the thread title?

Good draw. Rather play them over 2 games, than in the final itself. Will be close but we'll edge it.

Boom, score draw at their place then back to Anfield where they feel the kop's frustration at having no midweek European football.

I wish people would stop saying and thinking we're guaranteed to win the final if we beat Man City. Arsenal were favourites last season against a team now plying their trade in the Championship and look how that turned out.

It's funny that people say other teams aren't respectful to this cup and its run and belittle it, but then do so by saying we'll win if we come up against a Championship side in the final.

;D

The potential £2 million we may get from a trip to Wembley shouldn't even be crossing our thoughts to be honest though, I mean, it'd pay our best couple of players about 3 weeks wages?!
No it's the 2 mil from semi final receipts we are guareenteed to get and since the wages are budgeted for it should be an extra 2 in the January transfer market

If it is 1-1 at Eastlands and 0-0 at Anfield, we do not go through, instead we go to extra-time.  If it remains the same score after extra time, we go through, no pens.

Really hope city get a hard team in the 3rd round of the FA Cup because or first leg is just after it, an easy team probably means they rest their players for the 3rd round and play their strongest 11 vs us.

Their fixtures;

1st - sunderland away
3rd - liverpool home
7th - fa cup
10th - first leg
16th - wigan away
22nd - spurs home
25th - 2nd leg

Hmmm.

They're hanging on by the skin of their teeth in the CL, and have a tough draw in the Carling Cup. They're leading the league by a 5-spot and defending the FA Cup. They have to figure their best chances of silverware, and their priority, must be the league and the FA Cup over the Champions league (where it's likely that they'll be out by the time January rolls around).

When faced with 4 league matches, 2 league cup legs and and an FA Cup tie in the space of a calendar month, it must be depressing for them to draw us in at least 3 of those fixtures.

Our schedule gives us 2 days extra rest, after a home match against Newcastle, before we lock swords. Would be nice if we got a home tie in the FA Cup and they got an away one. Otherwise, they're playing 3 games on the trot at home (including 2 against us), and we're playing 3 away (twice at their place).

Dec 30 v Newcastle United
Jan 3 @ Manchester City
Jan 7 FA Cup
Jan 10 First Leg @ City
Jan 14 v  Stoke
Jan 21 @ Bolton Wanderers
Jan 25 Second Leg v City

The two matches we have between the two league cup ties are Stoke at home, and Bolton away. They have Wigan away and Spurs at home.

Unless there's an own goal, then that doesn't count.

No it counts as two because it's away, and two because it's an own goal, so total = 4.

Who says it's an away home goal? It could be a home own goal in which case it counts 3 1/2 pr 3. i have no idea.

This draw reminds of the UEFA cup semi in 2001.  Beat Barcelona and we were almost guaranteed the trophy.

Hope it's Palace if we get to Wembley.

A chance for Kenny to exact his revenge on them for the 1990 Villa Park semi.
United used to win titles on easy street, time for us to take over that real estate

If it is 1-1 at Eastlands and 0-0 at Anfield, we do not go through, instead we go to extra-time.  If it remains the same score after extra time, we go through, no pens.

Ah, so any away goals "kick in" at extra time. First thought that they started to count in extra time. That would suck if there were 2 goalless draws and then City scored in ET, we'd need to score 2. Bad Atletico flashbacks.

What has the universe got to do with it? You're here in Brooklyn! Brooklyn is not expanding!

Depends, if we drew 3-3 away and 1-1 at home, they could score 1 and we'd only need to score 1... unless they scored from outside the box, which counts as 2 in extra-time  (3 if you do it backwards).
