All-time Footballing Duos & Partnerships draft

- 5 rounds + a bonus wildcard round. On each turn you pick two footballers who have formed a partnership together at one stage in their career. i.e. Dalglish & Rush, Robben & Ribery, Terry & Carvalho & Cech etc. Note: Goalkeepers MUST be picked with your CB partnership.

- The standard picking format will look something like this (in any order you choose): | GK + CB + CB | LB + RB | DM/CM + DM/CM | LW + RW | ST/SS + ST | . But you can link partnerships from any areas of the field provided they make sense*: LW + LB | RW + RB | DM/CM + AM/FW | RW + ST | LW + ST | . If in doubt you may PM me in confidence.

*A right back and a left winger are not likely to have created a partnership!

- Both club AND national teams are allowed.

- Only one pick per era based team: i.e. If you pick Dalglish & Rush, you would then rule out Hansen & Lawrenson from the same Liverpool team, but not Masch & Alonso who played in a completely different Liverpool team/era.

- You must create your team in one of these set formations: 442 wide, 442 diamond, 4231, or 433. Using 3 or 5 at the back will make things too complicated unfortunately.

Is the bonus round the one when you pick the GK?

Nope, the final round will be revealed later. Also, to be as clear as possible, your goalkeeper MUST be picked at the same time as your centre back pairing.

So when we pick our CBs, we're picking three players during that go?
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Not sure if sarcasm to annoy me  ;D  But yes. Three players: CB + CB + GK. All of whom must have played together. So you might go for Adams & Keown as your CB pairing, in which case you'd also need to pick Seaman with them.

As draft organiser I'm also reserving the right to veto nonsensical picks.

Would it make more sense to pair up a LB and LW rather than two full backs?

You can do either. The more options the better IMO. I'd say there are surprisingly few great winger-full back combinations anyway, though I look forward to being proven wrong.

This makes me happy. I'd hate to be in your 'usual suspects' gang.

Oh, you are. There's no escape.

You're taking it too literally. A partnership or duo could be an iconic pair who played together terrorizing both wings for a team.

Cheers mate, I'm sure some will pick messages up after work.
