Maybe football won't end all the wars in the world. But it sure keeps people distracted long enough for you to steal their guns!

Glad you like it mate. Not downloadable at the moment though.  It  was on the Radio in 2002 when it  brought  us  luck  &  another time when it didn't, maybe 2003 before  the OT game  (Sami's sending off)......

...but it's time it was on again, eh ?

I'll wait till after we have a good result on Sunday & adapt it a bit to whatever happens though.

Would you be interested in purchasing a  40-minute CD of  my LFC poems @ £ 3.75  incl. UK p&p,  with all the money going to the charity Football Aid ??(see below)
This CD will be available by the end of January.

There will be more than 20 poems about LFC & other football topics, most of  which have been featured on BBC Radio 5’s 606 programme in the past year or two,  including :

*The Reds Against the Mancs
*Istanbul !  What a City !
*Sale Now on at the Everton Shop
*Shankly’s  Shocker
*The Almighty Pundits
*A European Night at Anfield
*Crouchie’s  Scored !
*I’m Not Paranoid, He's Out To Get Me" (the Mourinho poem)
*Nobody Sacks Roy Keane
*I  met an Ultra from Milan
*What do you do for an Encore ?
*My Mate Dan

and many more ...

Click on my George Best tribute poem on this link for a sample of the delivery style
http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/programmes/606.shtml
... though on the CD it's just spoken without music, and most of them are a bit lighter, funnier & pacier than that one !

I just want to gauge the level of interest at the moment,  so please send me a personal message on this site (or e-mail to sparklersgear@hotmail.com) if you would be interested, and please include an e-mail address if you can. This will just be your expression of interest, not taken as any commitment !

You'll be able to choose the mode of payment - either cheque to Football Aid   or  by Paypal to a special account I will be setting up for Football Aid. Overseas shipping will of course be a little more.

Football Aid is a charity organisation which  helps hundreds of good causes through its work with professional football clubs and their former stars.

In one month (November) alone, Football Aid made  major contributions  to : Research into childhood diabetes,  various children’s hospitals, various children’s hospices, Kidscape (the charity that helps bullied kids), ChildLine, Children in Need, various community youth, sport and fitness Projects,  Guide Dogs for the Blind , The National Deaf Children's Society, The British Heart Foundation, Aids Support Services and The Parkinson’s Disease Society.

Hope you don't mind me bumping this yet again, but I've promised a young lad off RAWK I'd help him raise some money to play at Anfield for www.footballaid.com this May. So if you like my poems, and you haven't got my CD, well the next dozen people who buy it for just £3.95 incl P&P will be contributing at least £3.40 of that sum straight to Adam's fund for Football Aid at Anfield.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Red-Poets-Liverpool-FC-Shop or search for 'LFC verse CD' on eBay.

Come on if your mate said ‘sponsor me a fiver to play at Anfield’ you’d do it –but this this way you get  a 60-minute CD too with poems about LFC & other football topics, most of  which have been featured on BBC Radio 5’s 606 programme in the past 3 years,  including :

*The Reds Against the Mancs
*Istanbul !  What a City !
*Sale Now on at the Everton Shop
*Shankly’s  Shocker
*The Almighty Pundits
*A European Night at Anfield
*Crouchie’s  Scored !
*I’m Not Paranoid, He's Out To Get Me" (the Mourinho poem)
*Nobody Sacks Roy Keane
*I  met an Ultra from Milan
*What do you do for an Encore ?
*My Mate Dan
*Istanbul, by the Bosphorous
*Stevie G said "No!"

and many more ...

The CD also features snatches the Kop singing snatches of more than 20 classic chants, from "YNWA" to "Show them the way to go Home".

Football Aid is an ‘umbrella’  charity which raises funds for many other local & national charities (especially children’s health, hospital & hospice charities)  in collaboration with the majority of major clubs, including Liverpool. Fans have the chance to bid for a place on a team to play alongside their heroes, and to step out on the Anfield turf wearing the famous Red shirt. A  real  "once-in-a-lifetime eperience" (but be careful you don't get hooked like me and end up doing it twice !! )

Football Aid  funds are distributed in three ways:

Nominated Charities of Participating Clubs
Voluntary and charitable organisations, named by their participating Football Club, which want to improve services and facilities to people.

Nominated Charities of the Football Leagues
Charitable organisations, named by the Football Leagues as their nominated charities, which are seeking to develop services into new areas of need.

Diabetes Related Projects
A primary aim is to support research directed towards finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Support will also be considered for research into the strategies for the prevention of Type 1 Diabetes and its complications, and for improving the lifestyles of children and young people with diabetes on a day-to-day basis.

For more information visit the Football Aid website:

http://www.footballaid.com/

See eBay shop details in my signature, or search for 'LFC verse CD' on eBay.

Adam, if you're reading this, how about a post telling the good folks why they should buy the CD, what they get on it, and why they should help these great charities whilst helping you play at Anfield  :) ?

I've only sold 3 for you  this week since I bumped these posts.

Hmm, well people should buy the CD as it combines the passion of the Kop with the poetry genius of Nige ;D!  This sounds like a perfect CD to listen to on the way to the match or on the way home.

The money raised by me (the money raised from Nige's CD will help contribute too) will go to a lot of worthwhile charities.  Most of them support children in one way or another, helping them have a greater quality of life and let's face it, if you can't the people of tomorrow, who can you help :D?!

Thank you, please.

And the only words I had to change to bring it up to date this time were to add 'Torres' and 'Masch'

Bought Niges CD earlier this month and I cannot rate it too highly. Loads of passion about the Reds, obviously, but also a mature tip of the hat to the greatness of other teams and players and the natural put down of those that have deserved it.  Written by a bloke who enjoys all football and isnt so myopic to think that footy excelence stops at Breck Rd.

An hour or so well spent listening to this.

I took this CD with us in the car on the way to the Charity Shield versus Chelsea in 2006. As we approached Cardiff I stuck it on without saying anything and this was the first poem. The lads in the car fell silent while it played and at the end they were silent for a few moments before breaking into a spontaneous round of applause.

Daft perhaps but quality nontheless.
