I'd recommend that, they're fascinating and the honey makes great Christmas presents.

I was suited up and out delving into my colonies (ooh er missus) yesterday seeing what they've been upto the last few months. They haven't capped the combs so I can't take any out yet but another week or two of fine weather should see the first harvest for me this year, that is if the buggers don't swarm and eat it all before hand like they did last year.

I've been doing a lot of reading up on the subject,  because I didn't really know anything about it, but I have got this fascination with them. We have so many different species in the garden that it never ceases to amaze me. I love sitting out there by the lavender which just sort of constantly throbs in a most therapeutic sort of way, and it's interesting to watch the different techniques employed by the different species. But I still need to find out stuff like what the best time of day is for taking them for a walk, and what time do they prefer to be milked etc. I'm thinking of getting a couple of mistreated bees from a rescue place or something to get started.

But seriously folks, there's a lot of learning to be done, and it won't be happening for a couple of years (when I retire) so I will be trying to absorb some local knowledge too, as this will be happening in France - and you need to consult your local beekeepers if you've got any hope of making a success of it.

France seems a popular destination, I know a few people who have moved there to retire.

Had some shockingly heated exchanges with a number of self-proclaimed lifelong Labour voters just before the election June 8th. Gave it and them the V salute on more than a couple of occasions. Shocked by the anti-Corbyn venom of some of the worst offenders. Post the surge immediately after the GE result, some of them kept something of a lowered profile but gradually they are back again taking potshots. I sometimes wonder who needs the Tories in the cross-hairs when the biggest danger to our democracy is snipers on the right of our own Labour party!

Jonno & Geoff, Shankly built a footballing dynasty on the very principles that we so vehemently believe in, it's not rocket science and a real leader will implement them successfully, they are as you say the foundation for success. These Blairite pricks and Tories preach the very thing that rips it all apart and worse still they don't fucking see it, selfishness and greed is now the way of the world and that's proven by the fact that this country currently seems to be in a worse state than I can ever recall. We are leaderless, divided and without direction and I'm not sure I see how it gets any better.

your summation is sadly correct but lets not get too bogged down in politics i will not be posting in the Labour Thread again, need to look at more important things, i have just purchased a chicken coop and run for my allotment , so now i need to find out how to build it and how to keep chickens in it,  always liked birds
