Anyway, I've researched a YouGov poll on this, one of the country's leading pollsters, and apparently "crozzy" is said 180% more times in the borough of Sefton due to the overwhelming number of cross-eyed people. It does get confused with the action of "... one sitting painfully on a comrade's crossbars."
As for takey, the word is apparently in highest use in Widnes and Sheffield. Backy is apparently derived from an old sailing word when a sailor would shout "Back ye!" to stowaways on board. Sailors children in the Scottie Rd area then brought it into today's use for friends who were legally getting a free ride.
