Considering a ROM for mine to hopefully fix the annoying things, not sure which one to go for. Heard cyanogen was good? Is it worth waiting until they start coming out with ICS ones?

Don't know about ICS ROM development on the S2 but for my Desire HD there are betas out, it's up to version 3 and they say they expect a full working ROM around Jan/Feb. This phone will be getting ICS though anyway, i doubt mine will which I went for the root. I've only used MIUI and i quite like it. The browser is very slow though but of course you can pick one of many from the market.

The S2 has plenty of power so CM7 or MIUI is perfect since i doubt anybody using this phone needs a performance boost. Only a battery boost and that can be done in a number of ways. Calibrating the battery is a good start (After rooting).

I've got Simple & Clean on mine at the moment and the battery life improvement really is noticeable. With heavy-ish use during the day I was struggling to have any juice left at the end of the day (6PM or so, when I get home from work) but I would estimate I'm getting another 30% battery life nowadays.

It is basically the same as stock but with some background tweaks to stretch the battery life and it does what it says on the tin.

I think it will take a while (end of Q1/Q2 of next year) before Samsung has it workable with Touchwiz then a few more month for the networks to dable wth it.

What's the latest version of MIUI? and what guide did you use please? Can I just flash it with Odin or do you have to use the samsung Kies shit?

I've currently got a ROM based on Lightening, think its called toxicity from XDA. It's weird going back onto XDA after having an iPhone for years. But i could spend a week on there reading guides, ROM versions and still feel no further on.

Do you need to root the phone to install the MIUI?

I'm using this at the minute to get the ICS look on MIUI, before an ICS ROM is out. Looks very slick.

All right, Matt. Rooting just changes the access privileges so you can do more stuff to your phone (gain root access - hence 'rooting'). By flashing/installing other stuff do you begin to alter what's on it.

ICS is due soon for the S2 (http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/43540/samsung-galaxy-ice-cream-q1), only problem is there have been a few screenshot leaks and ICS on the S2 looks virtually the same as what you see with Gingerbread.

The Nexus is an inferior phone hardware wise, but Im tempted to get it just so that I can get ICS as its meant to be and not with touchwiz spoiling it.

There are various launchers in the market giving you the look of ICS and some of the functions while you wait for the update.

That's the problem, ICS for the sensation leaked out and i couldn't tell the difference one bit compared to Gingerbread. The Sense UI just takes over. I think Google need to get stricter on what can be changed and what can't be. At least give us the option to enable/disable the launcher like all others out there. At they very least it will make them for competitive because they will then have to fight with all other launchers on the market, although i guess they have to do that now too.

Bought a 64gb iPhone because it was the only 64gb phone in the market.

I only found out a couple of days ago that there's a 64gb memory card that works on the S2. S2 + 64gb card would still be cheaper than the iPhone too. Gutted.

Does anybody know how to remove the refresh unsent email in the phone's notification bar? I tried to send an email easier, but the attachment was too large and therefore wouldn't send. Unfortunately since then, it keeps trying to send the email showing the refresh symbol in the notification bar. I have tried all sorts, and I'm using k-9 mail app. Thanks.

Anyone know how to sync Google calenders properly? The "Phones calender" syncs fine but I added two other calenders, one called "UK holidays" and the other which is an LFC fixture list. Only the "UK holidays" one syncs though. Any way to get them both to sync?
