UEFA has released their annual report on financial health of football entities across Europe and according to recent financial details Manchester United is not only the club with highest yearly revenue but also has the highest net debt. The interesting fact that even with the highest revenue United has failed to reduce their net debt which stands at €536 million and thats around 25% increase compared to last fiscal year.

Sunderland's debt is mainly to their owner, so it's more a problem for Short as he tries to sell them. He's obviously at the point where he's not chasing his losses.

Amusing that the red Mancs are still so heavily in debt purely for the privilege of having the Glazers milk them. They're Man United, they'll do what they're told.

Most of it will be, yes. Half of our debt is to bank loans and half to FSG as of the last accounts. Our debt (including that in holding company H&G had) was up at close to £400m, FSG have brought it down to £95m currently.

I thought the debt was cleared too. One of the reasons they got the club cheap was to erase our debt. Well that's what I thought.

Debt in the holding company (which was the bulk) got cleared. Some of the bank loans have been too. But FSG has been pumping money in via interest free loans to turn the club around. Some of those they've written off, some they haven't, some are new for the new stand. Same with new bank loans and agreeing new terms for old ones. It's effectively doubled what the club would otherwise have been able to spend.

If so, I'd suspect QPR & FC Kopenhaven to come out 2 of the worst clubs.

The headline figure doesn't tell the whole story, it really depends who the debt it to, how it is structured, etc.

Benfica is the bizarre one. Often lauded for their dealings in the transfer market, getting maximum returns on small investments.

That's the only table United are going to top for a very very long time.

Debt is a good thing to have to a certain point. LFC have a healthy amount of it.

99% of the clubs in the world would not survive to half of what was done to Benfica in the 90s and early 00s.
The club is rising now, but the complet financial recover is far from done.

Still a lot of money for a club which doesn't appear to have built a new stadium and whose biggest transfer fee paid was under £3m.

No surprises seeing the Milan clubs, they've both been on a downward spiral for some years now.
