SA 18 - 5 New Zealand!

Very Nice
Like I said earlier, if the ABs had been more clinical they would have won the game comfortably. When the situation was reversed and the Bokke second string took on the full AB side the result was much more emphatic and probably goes some way to showing the depth quality in NZ...

The scoreline in our match flattered us. Not looking forward to the world cup. We'll more than likely get out of the group in second but thats about it.

Conor Murray favoured over Tomas O'Leary at scrum half for Ireland.

Big call by Deccie, though O'Leary has been in poor form of late. Great opportunity for the young man </wilkins>

Luke Fitzgerald also misses out. Two massive calls but not really that surprising given their poor form recently. It's a pity Felix Jones is ruled out, as he'd have been a better option than Geordan Murphy I feel.

Not sure if confirmed but i read earlier that Flutey will miss out for England as with Care being ruled out we need extra cover at scrum half. Not sure how balanced we will be, maybe we will end up by default with wilko at 10 and Flood at 12.

I can see two scrappy games with Argentina and Scotland in the group stages.

He was injured for a lot of last season and hasn't been able to regain form over the last 5/6 months. I'd still take him ahead of Wallace though.

Yeah I hope it's as good as the last World Cup.

So many upsets/surprises last time including the Hernandez inspired Argentina and Fiji (who beat Wales and looked like they might do South africa at one point if I remember rightly).

I remember being similarly uninspired last time out too and we did ok eventually. Not the best straw to be clutching at though! It's a bit of a worry that Youngs and Flood are nowhere near the form and fitness they showed in the 6 Nations. With the stodgy midfield too our back 3 can be as bright as they like but they may struggle to do much damage.

We know what we'll get - our pack will front up to anyone but we'll struggle to kill sides off. In tense knockout games it could be enough, i think Wilkinson may have another big role to play. Winning the group is our only hope though I think. Avoiding NZ and SA for as long as possible is vital!

Plus no place for your hearthrob in the second row which is a shame as he'd be good for a 20 minute impact.

Decent each way bet certainly. If the teams you'd expect top your groups then one semi final should be Australia vs England/France.

It pains me to say it but I think I'd want the Aussies to beat NZ in the final if it came down to it.

Gear has had plenty of chances and never really grabbed them with both hands. Both Toeava and Jane can cover full back and Toeava can also cover the centre. Messam is another one who has never really shone in an AB shirt and Vito can cover better at 7 although I am surprised that there isn't specialist 7 cover for Richie.

I just think Gear is a strike winger. I mean last year Henry called him the best winger in the world? What has changed? I know he's had an injury but I would have taken him over Toeava

It can't have been an easy decision to leave him out but I think the starting wingers will be Jane and Guildford. Toeava's versatility has probably won him the nod.

Australia just won the Tri Nations after beating the All Blacks 25-20. An unusually quiet AB side made too many first half errors and allowed Australia to get in to a first half 20-3 lead. The ABs seemed to have one eye on the world cup and looked as if they were more concerned about not getting injured but the Wallabies were full on and really went for it and were worthy leaders. The ABs were not helped but the loss of Kieran Read and Adam Thompson to injury and some of their tackling was unusually poor.
The second half was a different picture as the ABs went through the phases and a sustained period of pressure saw them score 2 tries and a penalty to bring the scores level. The Wallalbies hardly touched the ball for the first 20 minutes of the second half but when they did they scored a well worked try and managed to close the game out as they won the Tri Nations for the first time in 10 or so years.

Came to this thread a bit late, but from what I've read, the real relationship trouble is not between you and your girl, but between you and a small box of Tampax. You obviously need something more substantial in your life like a huge Costco sized box of jam rags, seeing as you're such a massive fucking quim

Not international but..

Zimbabwe-born prop Brian Mujati has accused Leinster’s South African duo Steven Sykes and Heinke van der Merwe of making racist remarks about him during the province’s loss last night to the Northampton Saints.

Early this morning on Twitter the South African prop Mujati made the accusation, “Steven Sykes and Heinke van der Merwe were calling me a baboon during the scrums last night. Racism is still alive and things don’t change.”

“I was shocked by how how blatant they were being and to think I actually thought I knew Heinke from back in the Lions days”, he said of the pair’s time together at the Johannesburg club side.

“The guy then tries to shake my hand after the game. Naturally I kindly told him to fuck off. I wish them all the best with their careers.”

Mujati has been capped 12 times for the Springboks and was thought to have been a possible surprise pick in De Villiers’ World Cup squad but didn’t make the final cut.

Leinster’s new lock Sykes is a member of the Emerging Springboks panel while van der Merwe has played four times for the Boks since making his test début but his international career has been halted by his move away from South Africa.

Leinster issued a statement
‘Following allegations made by a Northampton Saints player this morning via his personal Twitter account, Leinster Rugby are holding a full internal investigation.

The managements of both teams are in close communication and hopefully the matter will be resolved as soon as possible.

No further comment will be made at this time until that resolution has been reached.”

As if they couldn't make Ireland's call even more embarassing.
