I dont want to see anyone in the squad who isnt 100% gonna be here when the transfer window closes.

Just want whoever plays to put in maximum effort so we go through.

Think we're bound to see some fringe players and young lads in the squad, pretty confident we'll get a win, i'd go with.

                                   Doni

Flanno       Soto              Skrtel           Aurelio (if fit)

                    Spearing
                                        Shelvey

Henderson                                       Maxi
                          Cole

                                 Ngog

Subs: Jones, Robinson, Coady, Meireles, Sterling, Downing, Carroll

Don't give a toss on the formation, would be decent to see Cole play, Alberto, Poulsen. Real chance for any fringe players to make a push to at least make the bench.

Will give Doni a rare run out as well.

I think we can send down a squad of players that need game time.In other words nobody who has played both league games.I don`t see why Henderson is being mentioned in teams he`s started both league games and will be in the squad/team v Bolton.

Something like this should be enough to get a result there.

Doni
Flanno,Kyriarkos,Wisdom(or Skrtel if fit),Robinson
maxi,Poulsen,spearing,Aurelio
Joe cole,ngog

That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

Tough one to call, regarding putting players in the shop window or picking a team of young/squad players who haven't played many minutes yet.  I'd pick players who have played less than a game and a half in the league so far.  Something like...

Kuyt
Aurelio Meireles Shelvey Maxi
Spearing
Robinson Skrtel Kelly Flanagan
Doni

Supplement that with the likes of Suso, Sterling, Coady, Eccleston, Wisdom and Amoo.

That leaves out Cole, Pacheco, Aquilani, Ngog, Poulsen, Degen, Insua and Wilson - all players I can see us selling/loaning out over the next 10 days.

I'd use this game to give Danny Wilson a chance at CB. He's played in the Champions League so Exeter shouldn't be daunting (though I'd have said the same before Northampton).

Would go for:

Doni

Flanagan     Skrtel     Wilson     Robinson

Spearing     Coady

Maxi          Shelvey          Cole

N'Gog

Tempting to play Carroll to try and get some goals and boost his confidence, but think the side above would see us through easily and avoid playing the guys who'll be up against Bolton on Saturday.

Yeah, I'd like to see him feature again.  Never felt like he had a fair shot.

Yeah, not so much Childish Gambino as Community/Derrick Comedy!

Just think we need to start giving Wilson games - yes, Soto is ahead in the pecking order but it's obvious it's his last year at the club. Might as well try blooding the player who is tipped to have a big future.

i would be interested in seeing Henderson play in the center for 20-30 min to see if he has a more attacking onus when in the middle. he's been pretty tidy and composed on the right, but i haven't seen him fashion or lead to a chance yet.

Don't really see the point in playing Cole, Henderson has been playing safe and feeling his way into the team. Playing him against a team like this and hopefully he puts in a more assured performance will go a long way in helping him settle.
If Henderson is going to be a regular he will need to be rested mate, however I'm thinking we should make Cole sweat for his wages once in a while  ;D

Can't believe people are putting up over weakend line ups with likes of Cole, Ngog, or Poulsen starting.

We need to think about the future and the fact that we have won fuck all for 5 years....we need to go for Domestic cups this year not being in Europe and play players who HAVE a future with our team....

-------------------------------Doni------------------------------
Flanno-----------Skrtel------------Wilson---------Robinson
----------------Spearing----------Adam--------------------
----Henderson---------Meireles------------Maxi------------

I'd be extremely happy with that lineup, with Sterling coming on for 20 mins or so. Carroll needs goals to build up his confidence, and this is the perfect opportunity for it. Also, I'd like to see Shelvey get at least 30 mins. Most of all though, we need a comfortable win, to keep our confidence high going into next weekend.

shouldn't have carroll anywhere near this line up. it wont give him any sort of confidence when the team full of hoofers will do just that. it would just make it hard to score goals. and cause frustration for andy.

I expect Doni, Flanno, Robbo, Skrtel, Spearing, Maxi and Shelvey to start this one, essentially the players who're in the first team squad but mainly been back-up so far.

As long as we have a mixture of first team players in there also. People like Poulsen/Cole etc shouldn't be played IMO. Stick a few more youngsters on the bench please.

Rest Carra, Kelly, Enrique, Adam, Downing, Carroll and Suarez.

Lucas and Kuyt don't need sleep never mind a rest.

Carroll needs goals and more importantly he needs match fitness, its so easy to forget that he has only played eight games for us.

Skrtel and Meireles should play for fitness, Carroll and Flanagan for confidence and Henderson to practise CM. Suarez and Agger must rest. Sterling late sub if all ok.

Flanagan Soto Skrtel Robinson
Shelvey Spearing
Meireles Henderson Maxi

It's Cole your talking about, surly that would be huff and puff for his wages as he doesn't see to work hard enough to work up a sweat.

After the absolute farce that was Northampton I'm loathed to throw in as many kids as a lot are. I'd go with:

                   Doni
Kelly     Carra     Wilson   Enrique
                Spearing
          Raul       Shelvey
Henderson             Downing
                 Kuyt

Keep the experience. Have Flanno, Robinson, Coady and Sterling on the bench. Would rather get the game won then stick the kids on with half hour to go than need to bring on the big guns if it goes pair shaped.

Think we need experience in defence for this as Exeter will fancy their chances I reckon.

Be nice to see Sterling start and perhaps Morgan up front with Kuyt.

Nothing like the joy of trying to predict an early round league cup team.  I'd go with-

Doni
Flannagan Kyrgiakos Carra Robinson
Shelvey Spearing Meireles
Kuyt NGog Maxi

Subs-Jones Skrtel Kelly Henderson Downing Sterling Carroll

We might see NGog (and Soto if we get a new CB?) sold by Wednesday though, so between that and Skrtel's fitness, who knows.
I read in Wikipedia that his full name is Andrew Thomas Carroll. Such a beautiful name. By the way,

rather do crap in the cup and concentrate on league and getting into top 4, Only players who need match fitness should play from the 1st team contenders. Last thing we need is injuries or tiredness for critical players. We should be able to beat them with fringe players which we have decent qualityof now. Doing well on both is best scenario but rather save best players for League and rather FA cup.
The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.
