Regan has given him a list of demands,

Unfortunately, I can see this pushing the SNP to the right

Quote
The Alba MSP Ash Regan has now published on X the text of her letter to Humza Yousaf suggesting what he needs to do to secure her support in the no confidence vote next week.

As well as asking for assurances relating to the rights of women and “competent governance”, she is asking Yousaf to support her proposed Scottish parliament powers referendum bill. This is a reference to an Alba party plan to get round the fact that Westminster can stop the Scottish government holding a referendum on independence by instead getting the Scottish government to hold a referendum on whether it should have the power to hold an independence referendum. Alba believes Westminster would not be able to stop such a vote.

Obviously just a feeling but got bad "Martin Jol meets Brendan Rodgers" vibes about this guy. Respectful tact and diplomacy is a prerequisite for such a high profile role, and unfortunately he's stereotypically Dutch in this regard.

Already acting like a competition winner (which he is, let's be honest) which doesn't bode well. Seems to enjoy the fact we're having to negotiate him out of his current contract with Feyenoord via a sizeable compensation fee. Van Dijk's shrugged opinion says it all "seems like one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment", talk about damning with faint praise.

Did I miss it, or has there been anything concrete (not baseless rumours from random sources regurgitated by Samie) as to why Amorim suddenly got dumped after a month of being the obvious media-briefed preferred candidate? His achievements with Sporting do seem superior in a more competitive and diverse league, and by all accounts, was talked of as being a "great communicator". Not that I care much after this past 9 seasons if I'm honest, but this eleventh-hour pivot to Feyenoord's Arne Slot with the obligatory puff pieces that's he absolutely the right man for the job, 6 months after Klopp handed in his notice, seems somewhat straw-clutching and desperate. Easy to say in hindsight but with a vacuum above the manager, maybe John Henry should have pulled a Billy Beane approach and made Xabi Alonso an astronomical offer in Dec/Jan, take it or leave it, rather than let it drag out for 3 months allowing Bayern's PR machine to run amok and unsettle him into a U-turn. Timing is everything, as in life.

We don't know the in's and out's of it but I said at the time they need to be throwing the kitchen sink at him and hope they did before any announcement to get him tied up, it doesn't seem like they did that so we were left with a waiting game which turned bad.

I agree the Amorim pivot was strange, but with him flying to West Ham there was clearly a move away from him for reasons we may never find out, I doubt very much that was him putting pressure on us in some kind of childish petulant move, I think by that stage we had let him know we were looking elsewhere. If it is because the set up with Hughes and co means no manager will have control and be handed players instead, that leaves a small pool of top managers that would agree to that anyway. Who knows maybe that was why Alonso turned us down too. It's all just a bit annoying really when we've seemingly missed out on the best two candidates in my eyes then gone for a very promising one instead, but one that may have ticked boxes for the set up rather than ticked boxes for pure talent.

But season 1 was half a yr as he arrive in Jan
And Suarez issue early on was he was hitting post etc on chances he created himself out of nothing. Nunez is missing gilt edge chances others are laying on a plate for him

You must have missed how many of Suarez's chances that he missed were set up by Downing. In 11/12 Downing created 55 chances for his team mates and 0 were converted.

"The assist thing? I've constantly set up chances, as I did at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough and have done at Liverpool, season in and season out," Downing told the Independent at the time. "I can't be criticised for not creating. I'm in the team to do that and I've done that throughout the season. I've just been unlucky that we've not finished the chances.

"If you look at what I did at Aston Villa, those chances got put away. Last season I was on a par with that, but at Liverpool they didn't [get put away]. It seemed to take us four or five chances to score a goal."

So there is Suarez who turned things around. Then we get to the people who were saying what a fantastic goalscorer Toney is. Well at Nunez's age he was in League one scoring 16 and 24 League goals. His first season in the Premier League at the age of 26 he scored 12 League goals.

Then we get to Ollie Watkins who at Nunez's age was getting 10 league goals in consecutive seasons in the Championship.

It is absolutely nuts to think that big powerful forwards don't tend to improve as they reach their peak years.

Imagine fans being people and being emotive.

Emotive fuckers. Should just lap up being fucking shite against our two most bitter rivals and letting them wank and then shite all over us.

Hurrah?
I just can't get my head around the idea of "venting". Why post at all if all you do is make your fellow Reds feel worse after reading your toxic bullshit than they were before?* It's self-indulgent and incredibly self-centred. Your fellow Reds are also emotive, also despondent, so why make them feel a little bit worse with your knee-jerk hot take that just has to be shared with the world?

Nobody is compelled to post anything at all. You are allowed to keep it to yourself.

* Not aimed at you specifically, Andy**
** Well, not all your posts

So who's going to tell Rossi that Kuyt is also joining in Slot's backroom staff or do we just wait for him to see Dirk doing rondos in Kirkby?

God please let me get a ticket for that first home game.

It'll be like 300 on steroids. Slots Vs Nots.
Make that Atletico game under Rafa look like a legends charity game

Nunez should be sold on basis of that video alone.
Some shocking misses from him, all following the same pattern - blast it like a donkey in general direction of the goal.

Let’s not be too over the top

No in fact lets go way, way waaaaay over the fucking top which the last page of this thread has certainly done, completely out of the blue when you compare the posts on the first half of the previous page.

Hopefully over the summer when the spoilt kids on here calm down a little at missing out on the league we can get a more level headed appraisal of Robbo. He is not even the top 75% of our biggest problems at the minute. For starters, how about signing someone who the manager can trust to give Robbo a rest? Robbo is the only player other than Alisson over the last 2 weeks who has looked like a title winner before. Even VVD got embarrassed against the Ev.

- Feyenoord have won possession in the final third more than any team in Europe's top five leagues, with Liverpool in second.

- The average distance (metres) from their own goal when winning possession in open play: Feyenoord 45.2m, Liverpool 44.6m.

- High turnovers: Liverpool 353, Feyenoord 344.

- Average possession in the league: Feyenoord 62 per cent, Liverpool 61 per cent.
Ah the "equivalent stats" comparisons, well that's me convinced then.
