Yes, all that's left, just a bit further on ...

https://www.google.com/maps/@53.4012225,-2.9583264,3a,75y,49.36h,85.6t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDtnho_ThRgtngdlvx1sfSQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

It's certainly likely that the property could be on top of one of the many wagon turntables that dotted the vicinity, like this...

...from when it was a goods yard. See map attached below.

I've marked the ventilation shaft ..

...which is still there today to try and enable you to get your bearings.

The snag is, that whole area has changed beyond recogintion, roads have been re-aligned and many roads simply long gone now.

Here's a picture of  what the whole area looked like around 1970...almost like post bomb Hiroshima..

There's a guy who has made a model of the area here

Quite fascinating that is Gulley cheers mate, the ventilation shaft looks to be right behind the original building mentioned.
One of those areas with so much history & almost completely unrecognizable.

...One of those areas with so much history & almost completely unrecognizable.

Tell me about it... so much of the Liverpool of my childhood and youth has long gone or is almost unrecognizable now, it's only by looking for the odd landmark like that ventilation shaft that I can get my bearings to the way I remember it all.

Anyway, is this the actual property?...

https://www.google.com/maps/@53.4009358,-2.9581021,3a,75y,280.8h,87.23t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sOU3bimJGRRpAcG66hkU3sw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

If so, then yes, by looking at the map there could well be a turntable left in situ underneath it all.

On the map, I've drawn the outline of the property as a dotted line and the street view above is from the figure, with the ventilation shaft immediately behind and I've circled the likely wagon turntable...

All we need now is a photo....I'm working on it....

Here's an aerial shot, you can see the Ventilation shaft....a bit changed today!

That's Myrtle Gardens, one of the immediate pre-war housing schemes. It was once a thriving community, plenty on Yo! about it.

Most of it was demolished  in the early 80's and all those new houses there today later built there, though some parts further back survive and have been a tad gentrified.

There's an absolutely cracking atmospheric shot from the early 60's of Eayeaddio here in the old photos thread taken outside there, I think Tsar and I found probably the exact location later in the thread here, it's called Minster Court now....

edit - Just noticed, that water fountain in the bottom left of that old photo, it's still there...

It is, it's probably around 1965/66 or so.

I remember that crane was said to be one of the largest tower cranes in the world at that time.

Yep that was the property in question Gulley & top researching there mate.
Orignally when i heard the details i pretty much scoffed at it mainly coz it's not my area & never thought there would ever have been a station there too..if i remember right he said it was the first tuntable ever built..another one to read up & research a bit more.
Time (or lack of it) is all over me right now, when things are less hectic I'll do some more recon too.

First half of this vid may interest you G..2nd half was a little bit of an eye opener for me,looks like the build up to the breakdown of the area.

Yes I've seen that, it's quite interesting though a touch sad.

But compare and contrast those end days with this from when the Gerrard Gardens estate opened in 1935 and all was hope...

Two interesting vids, those.

The first one is a bit weird.  It's almost like they've filmed a load of footage for a documentary, and these are the unused leftovers.  The shots are just so random, and out of context.

The second one. ^^^  Ha Ha Ha. How many kids can you fit on a roundabout.(2.05)   ;D      It's like the Calcutta express.

If I remember my history, Crown Street was the original terminus for the Liverpool-Manchester Railway.  There was a completely different Edge Hill train station that serviced it, done out in Egyptian style, complete with mini-sphinxes.  Lime Street station was built because Crown Street wasn't central enough; the original Edge Hill station was demolished and the current one was built, but the tunnels remained.  My mum told me Crown Street was a goods/coal yard until the 70s before it was closed and landscaped.

There was a big Moorish Arch around the area too.

That might have been where the Sphinxes were...

If you live in the West Derby area a good group on Facebook is the West Derby Society.

I've learnt a few snippets of local history I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Only ever went in there once.

.... and that was just to use the toilet.  ;)

I once read an article which stated it was the only pub in Liverpool that had doorways that opened on to three different streets.

Whether that meant just the town centre, or Liverpool as a whole, I don't know.

The latter being a bit suspect, as I can think of numerous triangular corner pubs, which open onto at least two streets, and with a bit of thought  and research might find one, sat on three.

You could well have served me Shazz  :wave

Richie..that reminded me of a story one of my brothers once told me about when he was out with his mates drinking here..

After a few bevvies in there they decided to head into town, upon leaving on the Stanley road exit there, they flagged a cab & they jumped in..after a brief stop at the lights was all the time they needed to decide 'fuck town,we are staying here'.
They halted the cab on the other side of the building & it still goes down as the shortest taxi ride they ever had.  ;D

I bought the last of my button down Ben Sherman's from Tony Harris. A bargain until the next weekend I went into town and realised that straight collar Ben Sherman's were the thing.

That's probably why I got a good deal.

I hate walking passed St. John's tower. Up close as you near the Tesco Metro it's just horrible. Only from a distance is it mildly acceptable.

It would've been better if Radio City left it unoccupied so they could've pulled it down.

Strangely I actually don't mind tbe tower ..the precinct yes , but the tower to me is an acceptable part of the skyline
