Great news!

*Added bonus that Fromola and Al will hate it*

As it goes I think it is great news . Brilliant to see Gerrard doing things the right way working his through the the ranks. Getting a proper coaching education and not taking a high profile job with no grounding  like so many players do.

Wonder how much an academy coach is on a year 50k ?

About that I'd imagine, but he's doing some hours at Aldi to make up the shortfall
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Brilliant. Love that he starts at a reasonable level instead of using his "star power" to get a top job at a medium size club or talk shite on TV. Says something about his long term ambitions imo.

The circle is complete.

There's nothing more Liverpool fans can really ask of Steven Gerrard. He's been everything to this club. The closest thing to a real life Roy of the Rovers you'll ever see. The local lad who captained the side and led us, in the most dramatic sense imaginable, to the greatest prize of all. Rightly regarded among the very best to ever pull on a red shirt. A true legend of the game.

And what better figure to inspire our next generation than a man who once stood in their shoes and now stands astride the stratosphere; a colossus of the modern game? Who knows better than Gerrard how hard you need to work to get from our youth team to making hundreds of appearances for Liverpool, scoring dozens of goals, winning almost every pot in the trophy room.

You can't teach a lot of what Gerrard did on the football pitch. He was as much about mentality as talent. But being there with him on a regular basis, maybe the kids can see what sort of men they'll have to become. And he does know a trick or two, too.

This! well put mate.

Welcome back Stevie lad.

Glad he's gone down this route rather than take the first senior management role he was linked with.

Will be good to see him back round the place.

Perfect fit.

Love to see him graduate to a first team coach alongside JK but all in good time.

Can only imagine the positive effect of having a club legend like Stevie over our young players will have.

Well done Liverpool FC.
