Wijnaldum has injured his hamstring for the Dutch. Fucking Fucking international Fucking football. He walked off but that's at least 2 weeks out. Fuck the fuck off

This is pretty much how I feel about it too.

Does anyone know how Lallana's doing? I feel we could cope quite easily with just the one "central" (traditional positions are so anachronistic with the current system) out, but if two are out simultaneously it might become more of an issue.

That said, obviously Can is near enough fit by now, Coutinho looked pretty good in a deeper position last match and there's still Grujic to come back. Actually, if Can and/or Grujic come in then we should be able to deal better with Utd's aerial threats which is the only bit of their team I'm particularly worried about. Silver linings and all that. Definitely not a panic stations situation just yet.

International breaks are a fucking twat though.

Damn.

I could see Klopp pushing Hendo forward and having Can inserted in the deeper role. Maybe even Lucas if Can is not deemed fit enough.

I can't see dropping Coutinho (although I like him in midfield) nor inserting Sturridge up top. I think Klopp will want Coutinho, Firmino and Mane in the faces of the Man U defenders.

Let's hope there are no more injuries.

I don't think Lallana will be fit in time for United. Likely a trio of Henderson-Can-Coutinho in midfield with Firmino-Sturridge-Mane upfront.

Our squad is so boss this year. Gini has been playing well but we should cope without him for the 2ish weeks he is out.

If Lallana is fit there's no issue ... we could also bring Emre into midfield - playing box to box.

Absolutely rotten for Gini, who looks such a natural fit in this team, but we have options now.

The thing is, there are options now. We can put in Emre Can. We could drop Coutinho back to midfield after the excellent performance he put in there and bring in Sturridge to play up top. We could even play Lucas or Kevin Stewart or Grujic. I'm pretty comfortable with seeing any of those choices really.

Or even move Milner to cm

Players get injuries.  Unfortunately part and parcel of the game.

So long as its not serious and not going to keep him out for long, I guess we just have to deal with it.

Like others have said though, for the first time in a long time we have a pretty good squad to accommodate these things.

Are we really panicking about Wijnaldum getting injured? I hope it's not too long for the lad but let's be honest he's probably the first team player we'd miss the least.

Pretty sure it is that Lallana and Wijnaldum both being out, if it was one or the other I would not be as concerned. I think if both are out, I would probably go with Lucas until Can is properly up to speed and Grujic has has a bit more time. I think we will smash them anyway :D

Have you watched the last few games? He's become pretty much essential to our midfield.

That's disappointing, given the form he was in and the consistency we were finding with him in midfield.

However, Henderson-Can-Coutinho isn't in any way a bad midfield. Coutinho slotted in brilliantly against Swansea, he was fantastic in that second half. The only concern might be that these players haven't built up any kind of rhythm together, haven't really played together this season. However, we have see Can return from injury to go straight into a big, big game before, and he has been fantastic. I have no concerns about him at all.

Height wise, we probably gain a bit more with the Can/Wjinaldum swap which might be important.

Can just played 90 minutes v Bradford behind closed doors, and has come off the bench in recent games. He's surely at a better fitness point than Lucas?

Lets see what the medical check up brings before going all overboard. It might just have been cramp. There is almost a week until the United game.

And Lallana was thought to be able to make the game when his inury happend. There has been no new updates. Assuming either makes the game we bring Can back and we will be fine.

We don't know that yet. He's had a few good games for sure and I like him as a player. But it's too early to say he's "essential" and start panicking when he gets an injury. If him and Lallana are both out for United then admittedly I'll be slightly worried but to be honest I think we could do with the physicality of Can for that game anyway.

He looked sluggish when he came on against Derby, but then looked a hell of a lot better in his cameo against Swansea.

No doubt he's ready to step in.

The beautiful thing about our current set up is that all the players are on the same page tactically under Klopp.

Someone comes out of the midfield, someone else slots in, and knows exactly whats required of them.

Of course Wijnaldum is a miss.  Good player, and really effective so far this season, but we've got quality players waiting in the wings, who know exactly whats required in their given position if they get the nod.

Disagree with this. This is exactly the game we need Gini for as I think he's the major contributor to us closing out games when we need to, something we've been utterly shite at for years. He'll be a big miss along with Lallana if he doesn't make it, but we've got enough to cope with this lot. Bit nervous about Hendo captaining England tonight now tho!

If you disagree, who would we miss less, then, disregarding Karius and taking into account our squad depth? You could make a case for a front three player due to Sturridge but our front three are all exceptional players.

I think for this game, we would miss any of the front three less than Gini for the reasons I said. Think we'll start well, scoring early and at some point in the second half will need to close the game down and control possession for lengthy periods just like we did against Chelsea. I think Gini is our best player at doing this and would frustrate Man Utd a huge amount as they will probably sit deepish and try to hit us on the break, particularly through Rashford and Martial-if we score early they'll be more desperate which is when we need to shut the game down.

Don't get me wrong, think we'll still be ok and will win and any player coming in will know exactly what's expected. Had a dream a few nights ago that Can and elbows got sent off and we nudged it 2-1!
