Can any Uni of Liverpool students tell me how easy it is to find the Thompson Yates Building?  Going to the open day on Friday and just wondered if it's easy or whether i'll need to keep my eyes peeled for it (and being as i need to get up at 5am in the morning theres a good chance they'll still be shut...).  Cheers.

there you go mate

edit* its quite easy to get to, if you get to the guild and then see the big building with the clock, walk along side there and the library then turn left oppostie library doors going into courtyard, then it will be on your right

really quite good, if you want to speak with someone who has done it my mrs may know of someone at the hospital that graduated the same time as her and they may be able to meet with you at lunch or something to give the inside view

My mate's wife did it at Liv Uni. It's very good apparently and also very competitive to get on the course. Also, don't know if this is relevant for you, but it has some exceptionally attractive girls doing it!

Was ok.  The course sounded really good and i know i'd enjoy myself living up there for 3 years but i wasn't particually impressed with the halls (apart from Carnatic, thought it was quite nice there) and i didn't really 'feel it' as much as UWE or Cardiff which was weird as i really wanted to.

Still got Northumbria, Birmingham and Nottingham to see in Sept/Oct so i'm not sure if it's definately on the list yet.  Will have to see.

All halls in Greenbank/Carnatic in L15/18 (buses to the uni from each regularly) but self-catering around Myrtle St area. Though might be new ones too since my time! :)

We had modules in the Physics and IT building but that is all. I did Maths & Management in the M&O building next door.

I came to Liverpool to study there and never went back again - my "spiritual home"! :D Fab city. Loads of friends said the same.

I did Physics at Uni of Liverpool. It's a great Uni. Physics is really good, the big CTL building was only built 3 years ago so it's all modern and up to date stuff. The labs are great, getting to use liquid nitrogen and re-create famous experiments and work stuff out for yourself. Definitely recommend it. Some great lecturers you'll probably run into like Dr Barry King and Dr Rodi Herzberg, both teach first years still I think. You get a real wide array of topics in pretty much most areas of Physics.

When it comes to Halls, to be honest i'd recommend staying in Carnatic/Greenbank. I'm not sure if Greenbank is closed yet, but they're both a couple miles outside of town in Mossley Hill, but they're really nice and I think you get more of the real "student experience" there. They're mainly catered, and have a bus running into town every 15/20 minutes 7 days a week. Plus a chippy and the asda down the road.

The new ones built in town are very very nice though, but tend to be more expensive and IIRC a lot are self catering too. Vine Court is run totally on renewable energy I think for example, the rooms are really nice. Guess it's all down to personal preference at the end of the day, but I preferred the liveliness of Carnatic. I did tour guides there for a while.

I think UoL is the best of both worlds to be honest, it's a red brick uni (the original) which comes with prestige, and it's also in a really friendly and lively city.

It's a 666 bus. Carnatic has both the famous chippys Steve's at one end and Chris's at the other end. There's a mini-Tesco just past the chippy and a fab pub called Pi.
Greenbank also has advantages, Smithdown Rd is becoming more vibrant while the assets of Carnatic are within walking difference.

Anyone old from Aigburth will remember Carnatic Halls as "The brew". Not sure what that meant but it was just fields and forests.

Aye, can personally vouch for Chris's chippy, I was mainly drunk or hungover when I got it but I swear it's the 699 bus, 666 sounds a bit too evil  ;D
