I know your game. Best way to increase your chances of a result is as a new manager. Happens all the time. New managers off to fliers. Sneaky shite

Next up is Barca.

Yep, 1-1 then out on penalties again. Wouldn't mind but I prioritised the cups, put a strong side out as well.

Subs must've been your undoing. Lewandowski and Aubameyang watching from the bench as Kimpembe blasts over!

It was 1-1 when the subs were made, I've not got a very good defence so had to bring on an 85 rated defender as Alaba was low on condition.

The other 2 had 75 minutes to miss chances, just wish players ability in the real world was reflected in this game a bit more.

I still think goals are distributed at random between the forward players. In that the cumulative rating matters, but the individual players don't. Hence no one striker ever seems to have the kind of stellar season they'd have in real life. It all seems to average out though, if you play Valencia ten times the higher ratings will probably give you at least six or seven wins. SM seems fairly consistent in that respect.

I'm not sure about that, I've lost to them in two semi finals.

But it is the goals/assists I'm talking about. I've got Bale, Lewandowski, Aubameyang and Morata, all proven goalscorers yet they have 21 goals between them in over 90 appearances. Then I have Fabregas, 103 assists to his name in real life  yet just one for us all season.

I think we're kind of saying the same thing in different ways.

Bale, Lewa, Auba, Fabregas' ratings (leaving Morata out as he's only 91) will be beneficial to you more often than not, but the benefit will be spread throughout the team, ie CBs getting assists, LBs scoring braces.

In saying that I do wish players would have individual attributes. Passing, shooting, pace, technique etc. Would certainly make the game more interesting.

I was in a play-by-mail years ago, around 93/94 time, where my outstanding player was Neil Shipperley. He was rated much lower overall than my star players Jean Pierre Papin and Gavin Peacock(!) but had the absolute perfect attributes to play left-wing, which none of my other players had. Made it really interesting trying to cobble together a team because it wasn't just about the players overall rating. (That and having to phone managers to make transfers). SM could do with a bit of that detail. If it was possible in 1994 it must be possible in 2017!

I thought there was more detail to start, I visited the Soccer Wiki site and it does have a bit more detail on players and their attributes. I fielded sides that complimented each other, players in their best positions, gave them roles witch SW claimed they specialised in. That's why I signed Aulba, he was the missing piece but it made zero difference.

Yeah that's disappointing. His 94 rating will trickle down somewhere though.

Big congrats to Atletico tonight. Had my full team out tonight too, but we just couldn't stop them scoring in an absolute thriller. 3-3 after normal time and 4-3 to them on pens. Nainggolan ballsed up his pen just as he did in last year's final against PSG! Someone needs to take him off penalty duties  :butt

Think of it as the Europa League equivalent. You qualify for it depending on your final league position the previous season, and there’s a Champions League equivalent as well. You can only manage your team in those tournaments if you’re a gold manager though (i.e. you pay the monthly fee). Otherwise your assistant picks a random team for you and you've just got to cross your fingers and hope for the best :D
