Right ladies and gents, this aint just aint jast an opportunity to get Brahms and Liszt, but since you're offering, I'll have a Nelson.

First on the agenda, what is the rhyming slang gonna be, eh?

Proposal namber one, "The Christmas Poos" as in Mr Hanky, Spirit of Shankly. Facking poor attempt.
Proposal namber two, "The Raindrops Song" as in Hanky Panky, Spirit of Shankly. Facking diabolical.
Proposal namber free, "The Crouchies" because he's tall and lank... ah for facks sake...

Good kick-off meeting that. Prolly about 90-100 people crammed into a stinkingly hot room!

Thanks to Graham, James and co for their efforts in getting down this way. It's hard not to be motivated after listening to them tonight. Very impressed with the direction being taken by the supporters union.

Chris O'Dea is organising, sos@hixvil.co.uk
On here Fester19 was until he got banned for abuse.

anyone that wants in the loop drop Chris an email so a better judge on numbers next time can be made and he can keep you's in the loop for future events/protests. He was third from the left in the white shirt, sort of curly black/dark brown hair.

Bloke in a suit, pink shirt with coffee stain and glasses is me. As I know no one here and was late. :)

only a real man can pull off pink ;)

I'm the idiot in the red and white shirt

blonde spikey hair, slightly larger than average nose, looks drunk most of the time, thought i recognised that face :D

recognised the face but couldn't place the name, shorter than i expected :o

Good meeting, good turnout. What was the first name of the bloke Tony Evans told us to google?
Was it Michael Klein?

seems to be the right one, done a quick 10 second search but can't immediately find the connections Tony mentioned, i think he was brought up on RAWK some time ago but i didn't go far on here?? you need to add citi bank to the search otherwise you end up with footballers, i did anyway ::)

on the meeting though i was impressed with the turnout last night and the things that were banded about, was McKenna the skinhead in the blue polo? chirst that bloke can talk, really knows how to fire you up, got a good bloke on board there.

some info on these boards about Michael Klein:-

http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=256532.msg6946881#msg6946881

Quote
The former Citigroup investment banker Michael Klein was a prime mover in Liverpool's success in extending their £297m loans with the Royal Bank of Scotland last month. An American, Klein goes back a long way with the Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks and is believed to have been instrumental in persuading RBS not to pull the plug on the club for at least another year.

The refinancing came with three conditions: that Hicks and his co-owner, George Gillett, invest equity (they pumped in £86m), that a new chairman be installed and that a third party be engaged to find new owners. Klein is believed to have persuaded RBS that this was sufficient reason to sustain the club. But although Klein turned to old associates in the new chairman, Martin Broughton, and Barcap, a Barclays subsidiary, few expect them to be successful

Thought this was common enough Knowledge after the Broughton interview when he took the job ? not the exact facts  , but Klein  putting  Broughton forward to Hicks  to over see the sale...

Can't remember exactly what Macedonian red { or whatever his AKA is on here now}said around the time Broughton was appointed?, but it indicated Klein had connection with Barclay's and also potential buyers i think ?

It’s pure coincidence that the failure of English football clubs to reach the later stages of the Champions League has come at the same time that doubt has been cast over their ownership. Still, summer’s transfer market is going to be busy — on and off pitch.

The decision of Liverpool’s owners to make Martin Broughton its chairman and Barclays Capital its financial adviser may be confirmed as early as today.

I’ve learnt that Michael Klein, Citigroup’s former vice-chairman and one of the top rainmakers on Wall Street, helped to secure Broughton’s services by approaching him on behalf of Tom Hicks and George Gillett, Liverpool’s owners.

Klein, who advised on myriad deals while with Citigroup, including Terra Firma’s takeover of EMI, is also likely to act as an adviser to Gillett and Hicks during the auction of the club.

MY PROFILE From The Times April 16, 2010

Liverpool owners chase a Citi playerMark Kleinman It’s pure coincidence that the failure of English football clubs to reach the later stages of the Champions League has come at the same time that doubt has been cast over their ownership. Still, summer’s transfer market is going to be busy — on and off pitch.

The decision of Liverpool’s owners to make Martin Broughton its chairman and Barclays Capital its financial adviser may be confirmed as early as today.

• The financiers known as the Red Knights aim to outline their offer to buy Manchester United to potential investors next week. And Blackstone, the private equity and advisory firm, has begun contacting third parties who may wish to buy Lady Bracewell-Smith’s 16 per cent of Arsenal.

With all this potential takeover activity in English football, Labour and Conservative election pledges to facilitate community ownership of clubs look opportunistic in the extreme.

• Banking regulation is a policy area unlikely to win votes on May 6, but dividing lines over it are more firmly drawn than ever in the main parties’ manifestos. This week, leading London-based investment bankers dined with Mervyn King, the Governor of the Bank of England, and discussed implications of Tory plans to scrap the Financial Services Authority and hand most of its role to the Bank. I understand there was vigorous debate and some scepticism about whether the Bank was adequately resourced to cope with such a fundamental overhaul.

I think setting the date got lost as the meeting just drove ahead on it's own steam. Looked promising, I hope everyone comes together quickly and takes advantage.

Of course big thank you to Graham and Jay for coming, I'm sure it was tough getting in that cab ;)
