Wait, the season hasn't finished yet?

I'd like no Sterling, Sinclair and Markovic starting, an opportunity for the likes of Brannagan and Wilson to get some minutes ahead of players who aren't going to be here next season, a fit and starting Sakho...

And a win would be nice too.

Markovich and Ibe from start and no way that Raheem should be anywhere near the pitch! Let's try to finish in a bit better shape than our recent games aye?

So...play young inexperienced players away at Stoke City and expect to win?

I never said I'd expect to win, just that it would be nice to.

I don't see any point in playing the likes of Lambert and Johnson personally and, on current form, don't think we'd be any less likely to win by playing a couple of young players ahead of them.

Something like Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Markovic and Sinclair is what I was thinking, not a team of under-21 players.

Sterling should be on the bench - not because of this weeks bollocks, but simply because he isn't performing and we should be looking to win the game. If he is desperate to show himself in a good light, he will do it off the bench.

I would love to start with Ojo but being away we might just have to go with Lambert which probably won't work. It's just shit that we have these injuries that are limiting our options. Same at the back really.

I'd go:

Mignolet

Johnson Skrtel Lovren Sakho

Lucas

Henderson Gerrard

Lallana

Lambert Balotelli

Just so we can send a message about how we need experience.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

I'm not really that bothered who plays as long as he players are selected in their best/natural positions. If Can plays then do not play him right back. He has already said in interviews his preferred position is midfield, play him there or in a back 3 where he has done ok/well. If Johnson plays then he should be right back, Moreno should play left back if selected. Ibe and Markovic on the wings or as attacking midfield players. Finally, for the love of god, play a centre forward up front!

I was going to pick a team for this one and it became apparent that we're missing so many players that should be in our strongest 11.

Id go for something like this....

........................Mignolet.......................

Manquillo.....Skrtel......Can........Moreno

........................Lucas.........................

.............Henderson.....Coutinho...........

Ibe...................Gerrard................Markovic

.........................Borini..............................

No Sterling for me and of all the options we have available up front id pick Borini for his movement and energy. Give Markovic a chance to nail down one of those wide attacking positions starting this week. Lovren was terrible last week and if it is going to be a back 4 id rather Can play there with Manquillo at right back.

On the bench id be tempted to put Wilson or Kent on there and give one of them a chance.

I would prefer Ryan Kent or Wilson to start over Sinclair more likely to make it here long term, and Sinclair hasn't outperformed either of them this season.

Maybe start 2 of the 3, why not?

Not sure if this is my 4th or 5th game in a row in saying this but Lambert, Borini or Balotelli again shouldn't even be in the match day squad.  Other than that I could care less, meaningless game and I doubt I'll even watch.

I just want to see Markovic get a shot in a more natural position. Sterling has been out of form for a long while, and I'd like to have even a small glimpse of what Markovic can bring to the wing-forward position for 90 minutes. Too few chances to see it this season.

Odd comment. I've been supporting my home town club for 50 years and every game the team plays is meaningful for me. Some more than others, but every time the players run out in the red kit I feel proud - even the bunch we have now! Stoke away - can't wait!

For the sake of the record books I would prefer we finished fifth, which is just outside the top four, than seventh which is essentially mid table. Plus I understand fifth is "par"...

The new manager would love us to lose and finish seventh so that fifth is a big improvement next May.

Am I cynical? Yep. Do I think a 37 game season is plenty? Yep.

Fuck off should Sterling play. How could he possibly consider playing him in the last game of Steven Gerrard. Take away the spotlight and leave him on merseyside, this is about Stevie.
Another game about Stevie - great. Wasn't last weekend enough? Has the 'Gerrard is leaving' sideshow not cost us enough important points this season already?

What is more worrying, however, is just how many on here are saying it is a meaningless game. Come 5pm on Sunday LFC could be outside the European places completely ( if Villa win the FA Cup ) or playing a EL qualifier in a couple of months. Meaningless ... my arse.

Sterling shouldn't be anywhere near the side.

Markovic should play.

Youngsters should play.

Don't care about the result whatsoever.

Maybe if Stoke embarrass us, which is entirely possible, it'll sway FSG to replace Rodgers. Maybe.

Lets face it, there's no way we're winning this is there?

This is a team that couldn't get up for Madrid, the European Cup holders at Anfield. Basel, with a win needed to progress to the knockout stages. Beşiktaş, with only a draw needed to progress in Europe. Arsenal, when we desperately needed to bounce back from the defeat the week before. Villa, which represented our last chance of a trophy. Palace, which was one final chance to give the best player ever to wear the red shirt a fitting home send off. Not to mention a whole host of games after the Arsenal capitulation with fourth place still in the balance.

I guess we'll just have to hope that Stoke can't be arsed either given they have absolutely nothing to play for.

Your wrong to not care, if we fail to get a result and tumble out of the European places, we have zero chance of attracting any one decent.

I see people are looking forwards to this about as much as having a verruca removed.
“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
“Generosity always pays off. Generosity in your effort, in your work, in your kindness, in the way you look after people and take care of people. In the long run, if you are generous with a heart, and with humanity, it always pays off.”
W
