I limit my visits to this thread on the basis you can always expect to see something which will stick in your head for the rest of the day.

That last one is reminiscent of the old joke about the guy who threatens to commit suicide by driving off a cliff but his passengers talk him out of it.

It didn't occur to me not to. I had to be there, same as I had to talk to him throughout, same as I had to bury him. I don't understand why people would leave any of it to anyone else.

One of my best mates has my wife's sister for an ex (9 years together and a bad break up), and she and my wife are really close (to be fair, wife is very fond of my mate, too, always wishing they'd get back together). Both mate and sister in law live in London and come home here at holiday times. It's lots of fun.
