We should adopt our 5 at the back approach we done when we first played Chelsea and won at SB 8)

Do they only lose the Toure bros for the ACN?

Yes.
Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong.

Did it before the game against Stoke at Anfield. ;)

70% possession at half time.  8)

I think we should go:

                   Reina
Johnson  Skrtel  Agger  Enrique
                Spearing
             Jonjo Gerrard
Maxi                            Bellamy
                 Carroll
Yes please!

Would I be right in saying this is our biggest game since 2007? Words cant express how badly I want us to win this. Come on redmen!!!
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

I'm with you there mate. So, so want to win this and get to wembley, been there a couple of times to watch England, great stadium, shit atmosphere when it's England. Would truly love it to be half full with 35000 or so reds who would create a very special atmosphere

Yeah it would be brilliant to go and make a weekend of it. Never been to the new Wembly as I refuse to pay to watch England. I also wanna beat them so that the arrogant City fans who have booked train tickets and hotels already will be pissed off!

Clean sheet required in the first leg. On paper it looks a difficult tie to out score them over two legs.

That's the key. Come away undefeated and we'll have a good chance. We need to be clinical though - we outpassed them 2/1 on Tuesday and ended up soundly beaten.

I also think for this match play 5 at the back.
Think 5-2-2-1

                           Reina

Johnson.   Skrtel   Carra.   Agger.  Enrique

                 Spearing.     Gerrard

Maxi/Bellamy                          Downing
(if Bellamy fit play him)

                          Carroll

Nope. Have to be with the National team 'x' number of days before they kick off. He will be missing today.

I think if the game was yesterday he could have played before joining Ivory Coast. Defo will miss January.

Dont want to create a new OP as it may turn out to be unfounded but I've been told Stuart Downing was arrested for assault last night, apparently his ex partner. So that may change the team line up for this game a little bit.
We where spoiled under Benitez.....too many fans had grown fat feasting on his rich offerings...convincingly beating the likes of Real Madrid, Inter and AC Milan,  Juventus and Barcelona....we started to expect these kinds of victories as standard... and like spoilt brats, when things started to go wrong, we threw our toys out the pram.

Nah! City will have played the Mancs today and will tinker with their team. No Yaya either. This will be closer - if we learn what to do in the final 3rd and cut out the blatant mistakes we might even get a result

I thought the Ivory Coast had refused it? Know the Govan tramp was getting all paranoid over it saying he would play.

Ivory Coast only play their first game on the 22nd January but there is a 14 day rule that players must be training with the squad. Not sure if that is for the whole tournament or just applicable to the Ivorians

Erm.....we've challenged for the title in 08/09 right to the wire and battered Real Madrid 5-0 over 2 legs in CL before getting done by Chelsea in the quarters.

Nevertheless, this one is the next thing we can win so it is massive and is the perfect way to put this club back in the headlines for right reasons.

We need to start defending corners better against these especially that front post area. They have scored 2 goals against us and could have had another one last Tuesday. Silva just drops the ball over the front man into runners.

Dare I suggest a zonal element was needed here with our best header of the ball put in there targetting the ball. We should be able to deal with the deeper delivery with Pepe and the markers but we are getting killed in that front zone.

They had refused it but things changed after that.  There were quotes from Yaya yesterday that he felt guilty due to his split loyalties, but would be available for City in both cup games.

Even if it is true and he has been arrested, it could still be something and nothing. There are lots of complaints made between partners/ex-partners that have very little too them.

If he has done anything bad he is a complete idiot and deserves anything he gets but let's at least wait and see what the truth is.
