We scored 5 at Stoke in January 2014 so why not?! I reckon Benteke will start like a house on fire, and the only pregame motivation needed for the rest of the lads will be a big sign with "1-6" on it. Stoke have lost Begovic, N'zonzi, and Moses too. Oh and did I mention they'll have Glen Johnson "defending"?  ;D

They are another side who like a good start though.

I hate being negative but this is a tough start, par is probably around 6 or 7 pts.

In the following 5 we could hit 10-15 easy so even a low tally in the first 5 I won't be majorly disapointed. Just more disapointed that we don't hit the ground running after a dreadful finish to last season and Rodgers job likely on the line.

Just done a quick little prediction on http://www.worldfootball.net/table_calculator/eng-premier-league/

I reckon if we get 10-11 points from the first 5 games we'll be sitting very pretty, with Norwich(H) and Villa(H) to come directly after that run.

Of course, we have Everton(A), Spurs(A), and Saints(H) in quick succession after those two home games, but if all goes well we'll be able to ride some good momentum into the derby :)

If it's too early then please feel free to delete this mods..

I have a feeling 10 points is very much possible..

Stoke: 3
Bournemouth: 3
Arsenal: 0
West Ham: 3
Manure: 1

Stoke 3
Bournemouth 3
Arsenal 3
West Ham 3
Man United 1

Level with Chelsea at the top after 5 games.

10
2 home wins
Draw at Stoke
Lose to Arsenal
Win at O/T

Think we due a victory over the mancs, and can see it coming this time round. Arsenal, just seem too much for anyone at their place most times.

See us kicking off with a score draw at Stoke and we should be beating The Hammers and Bournemouth at home, and reckon that's deffo 6 points in the bag.

I reckon that would make a great start, and reckon it's one we're deffo capable of making.

Manchester United (A) - L

I believe we'll take some points against either Arsenal or Utd myself. Maybe even both.

Why? Whats happened to make you think we'll have a worse start? Please don't tell me it's because of who we played in pre-season.

13 points.
Surely you don't really believe this? I mean, it'd be fantastic, but incredibly unlikely. Please elaborate.

7 points is realistic, 10 would be a great achievement. I don't think Bournemouth will be that much of a walk-over.

It's opinions, not really sure how you can claim one is more realistic than another at the moment.

10 for me.

Although I think we can beat United and draw at Arsenal, but that's what I think is most likely.

It's possible but the first game will pretty much tell us whether Rodgers has learned from last season or not. If not, it will be a long and painful one until christmas..
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

It's opinions, not really sure how you can claim one is more realistic than another at the moment.

If you factor in our record over the past 5 years to Stoke away, United away and Arsenal away it's not surprising if people are a little pessimistic about our first 5 games. Toughest block of 5 of the season in my opinion. Hoping for max points at home and anything away is a bonus.

7-9 is my prediction. To expect 13 is really really optimistic, not sure any side will have 13 after 5 games yet alone the 5th favourites during their toughest run of fixtures. We can hope though!

Think 2 points per game is about what will get you CL football, as such, 10 should be the minimum.

3 pts vs Bournemouth would really take the pressure off the following 3 games.

Arsenal 3
West Ham 3
Man United 1

Level with Chelsea at the top after 5 games.

1 down, 4 to go. Win the next 2 and I'll want 15 instead of 13. Our away games are against the 2 big teams that put in (imo) the worst opening day performance of all 6 of us.

No real easy games in this league anymore - anyone can beat anyone on their day.  However, I do expect 6 points from our 2 home games, although 4 wouldn't be the end of the world, and at least 2 from the away ones.  Between 9-11 points would be a solid return from the first 5 games, anything more than that and we'll be buzzing.

7 more from the next 4 would be terrific.

2 points per game and all that.

Bournemouth is one we definitely should be winning. 1-3 points vs the hammers and at least 1 point vs United/Arsenal fixtures.

I know its early days, but a win against arsenal (if we can beat Bournemouth, while they have a much, much tougher game away to Palace), could see them 6 points or even more behind us at the end of the third week.

They key really will be ensuring we win the home games and getting as many points as we can from the others

I'm gonna plump for 8 points. Winning the two homes, drawing vs mancs and Stoke but losing to arsenal

Hopefully 10 then, which would be a fantastic start.
