Well that escalated quickly!

£22m rising to £29m if we are successful...

Never seen him play, know nothing about him....

Wish him every success here.

There is too much positivity in this thread. I think we need some balance but Fordy is not available,  so here is some balance.  ;)

1. He is overpriced. People were saying Lallana was overpriced but Firmino's stats are not significantly better and he will cost more.

2. Another player from a midtable club. Okay its a German midtable club and he is Brazilian but if his name was Rob Firm and he was from Stoke I doubt many here would be excited. For all we know he is another Stewart downing.

3. He doesn't have any experience playing in European competitions or at a top club.

4. He was wanted by Liverpool's scouting team, so its safe to assume he is no good.

5. He is not ambitious enough. If he wanted to win trophies, he would have gone to a club like City or Chelsea but he is coming to Liverpool. Why can't be ambitious like Sterling?

6. If he is any good, he will be playing in Madrid in 2 seasons.
7. He's not the prettiest person to look at, beyond the football.

Wow - thats put a smile on my face. And how weird.

Saw him score in a tough not-very-friendly game against Chile at the Emirates. Came on as a substitute second half and had scored within 10 minutes.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, both in terms of the quality of the signing, and the way we conduct our transfers.

Welcome Roberto. May your time with us be happy and full of goals and trophies.

Interesting one, not seen anything of him really so can't wait to see him action.

The best thing about this one was the fact that it just came pretty much out of nowhere and happened quickly. The way they seemed to happen a few years ago.

Some ambition at last! Great signing. Now let's get the others in!

One question I will ask though... This doesn't feel like a Brendan signing to me.

Been out of the loop last few days. So are we really in for another striker? Good to see us getting our business done early this year. Should hopefully have a decent pre season for a change.

Chuffed with this. All the talk of strikers etc left me wondering if we were even interested in bringing another attacking midfielder into the mix (especially if Raheem.....no, actually I'm not going there). Seems to be a promising player we've picked up at a good age. Big fee, but not extortionate in today's market. Can't wait to see him in action and very surprised and pleased with how swift we were in tieing this up.

Welcome Roberto!

Refreshing to know how many on here watch German footy and have signed him off as a great signing

Its a great league to watch to be honest. Serie A, Ligue 1 generally puts me to sleep.

We can only hope he does not turn out like most of last seasons signings which were lauded to the extreme.

Just wanna commend Ayre, the committee, Rodgers and anybody else involved in this deal for moving so quickly and decisively. Last weekend no one was even sure if we were interested in him. And 3 days later he's signed.

He may work out, he may not. What this deal has done is increase my faith in whoever's running this club. That transfers don't need to be protracted over weeks anymore.

All 5 of our transfers have moved very quickly. That also tells me Benteke is very unlikely as well. Rejoice!

Or it has taken longer and the club just does not leak any more. Which is also good.

Amazing how the prospect of a holiday in Chile concentrates the mind. "Yep, Roberto, wages are fine. No, I do all my negotiating in shorts."
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

Not for one minute I believe Ayre flies over and then in hours the deal is done.

This deal has been in the making for a long time just that info hasn't been leaked until recently.
