At the end of the season my cup was drained, not surprising given that;
The end of the previous season was a nightmare, only a few thing in football are worse than losing the league, at home, against Mourinho's Chelsea, with a Gerrard slip and Torres on the pitch. (Palace was just further pain, but I suppose it could have been Everton)
We saw the worst performance/result, Stoke, in the 47 years since I first saw Liverpool
We possibly saw the worst performance in a big game (Losing to Villa) in those 47 years
We saw complete capitulation in europe, both competitions, appalling really
We saw the surrendering of our legendary status, by bending over for Real Madrid in the Autumn.
We appeared to become a selling club to others we regarded our equals not long ago (Sterling)
Except for 1 City game, we were done over by every team in the top 4, and not beating Everton
Could it have been worse, possibly. For Liverpool FC, no.
Having said that, I'm a natural optimist and therefore I've filled my cup to halfway now after Firmino's signing, it makes the Ings and Milner signings look decent, and it sends out a message. Can Markovic and Lallana will come good.
Time for optimism,
time to look forward,
time to clear out the cobwebs
2015/16,
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
4th (not that good then)
