He's not exactly the player I wanted,  I don't see him as a genuine midfielder and he's on the older side. But he's got the key attributes I want in our game. He's got a high work rate and if we get some cohesion in our pressing then him along side Henderson could cause massive headaches. He's technically miles better than Allen going forward and would reduce the load on Coutinho without too much of a defensive concession.

Of course it's all for naught if can't get our pressing game off the ground and I think to do that we need a striker that can take advantage.

He's also a big game player. He is always reliable in the big games. We need plenty of that.

Curious to see where we plan to use him. My bet is he'll play in CM. It's him, Henderson and someone.

I've said it before but I think this season he can have the impact Raul Meireles had for us. I know we were shit that season but he was really good at getting forward and linking midfield with attack at tempo.

Only reservation I have is that we are absolutely miles away from anywhere near the midfield quality of Masch Alonso and Gerrard. I don't see us still being able to control the midfield area against good teams.

Brilliant signing. I've wanted us to sign Milner when he was at Leeds, then Newcastle and then Villa and we've finally got him. Really like him as a player and can't wait to watch him. Just hope this isn't our signing for right back ;)

If someone tries and give him the captain armband, this will definitely show what kind of club we are becoming, it is UNREAL and HILARIOUS to make captain a lad that just arrived , at 29 years of age. Just non sense.

I'm happy for Milner to be here with us,but that's it. Skrtel or Hendo can be captain, not Milner who's hasn't played a single minute for Liverpool

To assemble a midfield 3 of Mascherano, Gerrard and Alonso at their peak of their powers would cost you in excess of £150m realistically in today's market. We have to be realistic as fans too.

We follow Liverpool mate, the last 10 years have felt anything but realistic :)

I'm all for big money signings, but assembling another midfield of JM / SG / XA is the sort of dream which forces me to put the sheets in the washer.

I disagree on 150M but it takes money I agree. But we can buy players who have similar styles (lite versions). If you scout hard and broadly enough there are all types of players you can get to replicate that style of midfield. IMO. I think this club finds it to easy to excuse not going for quality players these days. Might aswell try rather than saying we can't.

But anyway Milner will do for this current team.

Interesting and complimentary stuff from Pellegrini there. Remember he came on last season at Anfield when we were 2 up. Him and Silver ran us ragged for a good 25/30 minutes. In my eyes, he's definitely a first eleven player. Probably could do with a couple more first teamers too.

I disagree on 150M

I do too. It would be much more.

If a yet at his peak Pogba is rumoured to be going for upwards of £60m then a peak Gerrard in today's market would easily be touching £100m on his own, and with both Alonso and Masch going for a combined £50m+ 5 years ago it's safe to say that figure could probably be doubled now too.
